A Magicals Christmas Card

Hello everyone and welcome!!  Hope you are having a wonderful day!!
A special welcome to my new followers.  Thank you so much for joining me.

Back again to share another of my Christmas cards.
For this one, I have again created my own background using Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals, instead of using designer papers.

I cut a piece of canvas paper to the size I wanted and masked off the edges.
Sprayed water over the paper and sprinkled on Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals and then sprayed it again with water till I was happy with the way it looked.  Once it was dry, I used texture paste through a Tim Holtz Poinsettia stencil on the same area.    I really like how some of the colour still leached through the  texture paste.
Made the poinsettia with a die from Poppy Crafts and added some prills for the center and glitter on the edges. Not really happy with the glitter .. need to find a better way to add some sparkle.
The chippie is from Scrapmatts ..
.. and the pine branch die is from Impression Obsession.
I purchased a really cheap Christmas decoration and pulled it apart so I could use the baubles on my cards.  The decoration only cost about $2AUS and I have enough baubles for about 10 cards, so I got a real bargain there.

All in all, I'm quite happy with this one.

I do still love using designer papers for my cards but am finding I really enjoy creating my own backgrounds.  Have been checking out a lot of videos and trying out some different techniques.  Unfortunately though, I have ended up with a few muddy messes and ended up throwing it in the bin but, once in a while, I make one that I like.  Hopefully, with more practice, more of them will be usable.

Thank you so much for visiting my little blogspot and do enjoy the rest of your day.

Take care and God Bless.

  3. Love that you made your own background on this one, it has turned out beautifully!! The poinsettia and other elements look great too (will have to check out that pine branch die, it's gorgeous). And what a clever idea to by a cheap C. decoration and pull it apart like that, the resulting cluster looks stunning!!!

  4. You've given this mixed media panel a wonderful, modern feel with the white border! I think the glitter is very pretty on your petals, but it's always fun to adventure into new ideas. Right now I've been using my Stickles. :) Hugs, Autumn

  5. A gorgeous card and fantastic work creating the background. It looks realy great and you allways will have an original background as making it yourself you will never get exactly the same. The flower looks lovely with the bead center and the glitter looks very nice too! A good idea with the sentiment. A stunning creation Margaret! Marlies x

  7. Another fabulous and totally unique card with the hand made background. Magicals are such fun to use. I had to smile about the muddy mess which sometimes happens. I've certainly had more than a few - but it's all a learning experience. Love the prills and the shimmery edges. Thanks for the inspiration.

  8. Oooh, that Magicals background is just that - magical! It is so beautiful and the poinsettia is gorgeous. Those gold baubles (great find!) are beautiful. I really need to get my hands on some of those prills, they are such a lovely addition! Hugs, Anne xx

  9. Gorgeous card Margaret! You always have the most beautiful backgrounds and this one is no exception! You've worked some magic with the Magicals, I love the blend of colours and the fabulous pattern they created! A gorgeous poinsettia, love the glittery edges! I adore the sentiment tag ornament, how festive!

I wish I had something new to report about our weather, but it's still raining here. It's too cold outside to sit outside on the patio, but not cold enough to snow. It is cold enough, however, that my squirrel bed on the patio has two tiny babies living in it. I've named the boy Zippy and the girl Dolly P, they are so freaking cute!! sending hugs :)

Just perfect the way the colors peek through the embossing paste for a great old time effect! Love the glistening poinsettia; there are so many ways to add glitter. I'm sure you are going to love experimenting! Big hugs!
