Crafty Cardmakers Challenge # 234

Hi everyone and welcome.  So happy to have you here for a visit.

The new Challenge is up and running at Crafty Cardmakers and Josephine is our host.
The Theme for this Challenge is Birthdays and, as usual, anything you create is fine as long as it meets this Theme.

The papers are all by Kaisercraft.
On my desk, I found a piece of scrap paper from which I had punched out a few circles, so I added that to my layers.   I really like how it adds a bit of interest to the card.
The clock is a printable from the net.  I popped it onto a piece of chipboard and clear heat embossed it.
The chippie pieces were all heat embossed and the Birthday sentiment is a sticker by Creative
Just for a bit more interest, I added some white slpashes with watered down gesso.

Hopefully, I have inspired you to join in with our Challenge.  Would love it if you could pop over to the CCM blog and take a peek at the wonderful creations by the rest of the Team.  I'm sure you'll find lots of inspiration there.

Just Playing - Making Cards #5 and a little Amigurumi

Hello everyone, thank you for stopping by and hope you are having a wonderful day.

I'd like to share another card from my 'Just Playing' series and, at the end of this post,  also thought I'd share another of my Amigurumi as well.  Killing two birds with one stone so to speak!  LOL!!

So, first up, the card.
The papers are by Kaisercraft.
This was the last card I made while playing with my 'made up kit' and so there wasn't a lot left in the way of embellishments.
I used up one of the last clocks and, as you can see, I also used a piece of hessian fibre ribbon and a little chippie but was left with a mainly blank card.
Luckily, I had a light bulb moment, and punched out some circles from the remaining papers and used those as embellies!!  Did a little doodling around the edge of them and was quite pleased with the result.
I know I could have delved into my stash and found numerous other things to fill up the card front but I'm glad I stuck to my guns and only used what I started out with.  Was a great excercise for me and it was fun!!
Before I gave this card away, I did add a sentiment but forgot to take an updated photo.   Happy to say, the recipient was thrilled with it!!

So, now onto the Amigurumi!!

This is my little Bean Bag Puppy!
This was one of the first Amigurumi I made and hadn't yet learned that you need to use a slightly smaller hook.  As you can see, the holes between the stitches are a little big and shows the stuffing.  One of those things you only learn from experience!
The pattern is a free one (if you're interested, HERE is the link) and I used a lighter yarn than the original so mine is a little smaller.  The pattern states he should be about 5" tall but mine is just 4".
Has a cute little tail too.

My second Amigurumi is adapted from another free pattern called 'Little Big Foot Lion'.
The original pattern has him standing up but I adapted it so he could sit because, I think, it looks more natural.  (and cuter too!! LOL!!)  HERE is the link to the original pattern.
I made his paws a little bigger too and stitched in the toes.
Don't you just love that mane??
So there they are!  My Big Foot Lion and Bean Bag Puppy and I love them both!
I'm actually getting quite a collection of these Amigurumi.  I really love making them and have now started crocheting dolls as well.  Will show those some time too if you're interested.

Thank you so much for stopping by.
Sorry that this post is a bit long but I'm so pleased you stuck it out to the end.

Have a wonderful day and, whatever kind of crafting you're into, have fun with it!!

Take care and God Bless.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #233

Hello everyone and welcome!!  Very pleased you decided to stop by.

The new Challenge is now live at Crafty Cardmakers!  Glenda is hosting and the Theme is 3 - 2 - 1.  As always, you can create whatever you wish but we would like to see your creations using three of one thing, two of another and 1 of a third.  As an example, you could use 3 patterned papers, 2 diecuts and 1 image and, it would be helpful if you can mention in your post what your 3, 2, 1s are!

For my DT contribution I have created a card and, in keeping with the Theme, I have used three patterned papers, two flowers and one chipboard flourish.

The papers are from Kaisercraft's Wandering Ivy Collection.  I love the combination of white with the different shades and patterns in blue.  There are also touches of green in this collection as well which is also very pretty.
The chippie is by Little Birdie as is the white flower used.  The fabric flower is from my stash.  That is to say, I have had it for quite a while and have no idea who the manufacturer is.  LOL!!
As you can see, I've also added a piece of lace under the cluster and enhanced the card with a mixture of prills and micro beads.

Well, I hope I have inspired you to take part in this Challenge.
For lots more inspo, do pop over to the CCM blog and take a look at the wonderful creations by the rest of the Team.

Just Playing - Making Cards #4

Hi everyone!  Welcome to my blog.  A special welcome to my new followers.  So pleased you decided to join my crafty journey.

Gosh!  It's seems like ages since I posted last.  Life has been busy lately and I haven't spent much time in my craft room.  The little time I have had in there has been spent trying to tidy everything up.  You would not believe the mess it's in at the moment but, slowly but surely, I am getting things in order.

Anyway, thought I would share another of my Just Playing creations.
I used one of my Gelli Plate fails for the top layer on this card.  The reason I call them my fails is because they didn't turn out at all the way I envisioned but, having said that, I have found them quite suitable to use on my cards.  I actually love the grungy look of them.
The clock is a printable from the net.  I mounted it to a bit of scrap card for extra strength and then heat embossed it with clear powder.
The cogs were die cut from black cardstock.  I glued a few layers together for extra dimension and then used Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in Bronze and Silver to give them the aged look.

The chippie sentiment is by Scrapmatts.
Gave this card to my oldest Grandson just recently and (thank goodness) he loved it!

That's it for now.
Sorry if I haven't visited your blog lately.  I am trying to get more done but life insists on getting in the way at the moment.  I will keep trying though.

Thank you so much for stopping by and do enjoy the rest of your day.

Take care and God Bless.
