Crafty Cardmakers Challenge # 265 - Create a Tag

 Hello dear friends and welcome.

Here we are again with a new Challenge at Crafty Cardmakers.  Monika is our host this time and the Theme is to Create a tag.

You can still create whatever you like, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, anything at all, as long as it includes a tag.  Or, you can simply create a tag on its own as I have done here.

My little tag was made at the last minute.  I knew this Challenge was coming up of course but, somehow, the time just flew by and it was upon us before I really noticed.  So, I had to quickly find something to make and this is the result.

I found the blue tag in my stash.  I have a basket on my workbench where I drop any ephemera left over from other projects and that is where I found this.  There was also a small paper doily left on my desk and that started me off with the decorating.
The piece of book paper came next and, once I had glued these down, I decided it needed some texture.  Should have done that first up.  Not easy adding texture paste through a stencil without getting it all over the doily and book paper.  I did manage though, and then decided it needed stamping!  Well, that mostly did go over the doily, etc. but, luckily, I was still happy with it.
The tag was a bit flimsy so I mounted it onto a piece of kraft card and then it was time for some embellishment.
Found the stamens on my desk too.  Not sure when they got there but they certainly came in handy.
Time to find some flowers.  Again, I was lucky that I found these little beauties.  I must have coloured them ages ago and not used them but they were perfect for my tag.  I also found the little gem stems and added that as well.
A small bunch of white flowers completed the cluster.

Threaded a piece of twine through the top, found some words I liked, and my little tag was done!!

Would love you to join our Challenge, it can be a lot of fun!  For some great inspiration, pop on over to the CCM blog and take a peek at the wonderful creations by the rest of the Team.  You will also find our linky there to add your creation.

Thank you so much for stopping by.   I really do appreciate your visit and love reading any comment you may care to leave.

Have a wonderful day!
Take care, stay safe and God Bless.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #264 - Shabby Chic

Hello dear friends.  Welcome to my blog.

The Theme for the new Challenge at Crafty Cardmakers is Shabby Chic and our Host is the lovely Angela!

As is always the case, you may create whatever you wish as long as it fits the Theme.

When I think of shabby chic, aged furniture or furnishings come to mind.   White washed furniture that looks a bit scuffed and distressed, or furnishings that are well washed or slightly worn and torn.  A soft, feminine style with lots of white and a few contrasting pastel colours.   So this is how I styled my card.

The papers, by Kaisercraft, have been torn and distressed and, for a little extra shabbyness, I added a little stamping as well.

A strip of floral lace supports the flower cluster to which I have added die cut leaves and a bit of gauze.

Of course, I couldn't forget my favourite prills and you can also see a sweet little butterfly cabochon.

To finish off, I added a lovely seam binding bow.

Would really love for you to hop on over to the CCM blog to take a peek at the wonderful creations by the rest of the Team.  Hopefully, you will be inspired to join in.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit here and thank you to those who leave me such lovely comments.  Both are very much appreciated.

Take care, stay safe and God Bless.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #263 - Use a Recycled Element

Hello dear friends and welcome.  So pleased you stopped by,

Judy is our Host for the new Challenge at Crafty Cardmakers, and the Theme is to use a Recycled Element in your project.   As always, you may create whatever you wish as long as it follows the Theme.  If it is not obvious, please tell us what it is that you have recycled.

For my project, I have created an album cover out of a recycled box.

I actually started making this Album cover before I realised that we had a recycling Challenge coming up so, unfortunately, I didn't take any photos right at the very beginning.   I had already attached the spine to the front and back covers when it finally dawned on me that I could use this as my DT contribution.  Duh!!

As you can see, I used the box from our new electric toothbrush.  The covers measure 6" x 6" and the spine is 6" x  1.5".

To attach the spine piece to the covers, I used wet glue and a polyester fabric which is normally used as lining.  It is quite thin but also quite strong and works really well for book binding.

Once the glue was dry, I attached double sided tape to the side that I wanted as the outside of my book.

I had to glue two sheets of tea stained paper together to make a piece large enough to fit.  If you look carefully, you can just see the join but it's not really noticeable IRL and it will be covered over when I embellish the cover anyway.
Turned the cover over again, lined it up in the center of the paper and then removed the backing on the double sided tape and glued it down.
I bevilled the corners and then attached double sided tape all around the edge so I could wrap the paper around the cover.

I always wrap the long sides first.  Not really sure why, but I just prefer doing it that way.

Once the paper was wrapped around the edge, I added the binding strip ..
.. and then attached more tea stained paper to the inside covers.

This is still a work in progress.  I have completed a few pages but it still has some way to go before the album is finished.

Now it is your turn.  If you pop over to the CCM Blog you will see lots of wonderful inspiration from the rest of the Team for your own recycled project.  Would love to see what you create.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #262 - Things with Wings

Hello and welcome dear crafty friends.

It's time for a new Challenge at Crafty Cardmakers.  Mary is our Host and the Theme is Things with Wings.   As always, you can create whatever takes your fancy as long as your 'Wings' are a prominent part of your creation.

My contribution is a simple card made with some textured paper I found in my stash.  This paper must be at least 10 years old.  I'm pretty sure I purchased it when I first started making cards.  I had intended to throw it out but decided I would try to use it instead.

I wanted to add some colour so I got out my Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals and sprayed the paper with water.  It soaked it up like a sponge (Yikes!) so, when I sprinkled on the magicals, the colour didn't move very much.  Still, I didn't mind the result, so decided to keep going with my card.

Once the paper was dry again, I added the script stamping.  This is a new stamp I purchased recently.  It's called Background Script and is made by Kaisercraft.

The butterfly is a free printable from the net.  I have used this butterfly a few times before as I really love the colour.  This time though, I thought I would raise the interest level a little and added the background script to one of the wings.
The flower stems are from the Wildflower Stems #1 and Wildflowers #2 die sets by Tim Holtz.

Now it's your turn.  Head on over to the CCM Blog to see the wonderful projects created for this Challenge by the rest of the Team.   You will find plenty of inspiration there.  Really looking forward to seeing what you create!

Have a wonderful day!!
Take care, stay safe and God Bless you all.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #261 - Lots of Layers

Hi everyone!   Thank you for stopping by my blog today.  So happy to have you visit.  A very special welcome to my new followers.  Thank you for joining me on my creative journey.

So, the CCM Team are back from our break and it's time for a new Challenge.   Jo is our host for this one and the Theme is Lots of Layers.  As always, you can enter anything you like, a card, layout, off the page, whatever you wish  as long as it follows the Theme.

Over the last few months, I have been busy creating a couple of mini albums and, as the cover of this album has lots of layers, thought it would be perfect as my DT contribution for this Challenge.  I usually take my time creating my albums and only work on them in between other projects.  This little book was created for my Granddaughter who turned 18 just recently.  I am only showing the cover today and will share the book itself later on.

The papers used in this book are from the Darcelle A4 paper pad by Prima.  I love these papers, they look pretty here but are even better in real life. There's actually 5 layers of paper on this cover, the first of which is the main base mat.  It's mostly covered here but is very pretty.
You can see some book paper in between the dp and I added a cute little bow made with a new punch I purchased recently.  A little difficult to make as it is so small, but really sweet.
Added a small cluster of Little Birdie Flowers ..
.. and created a faux Polaroid frame which I edged with some gold embossing.
The closure on this album is a ribbon bow which was simply threaded through an eyelet on the front and back cover..

I do love how this turned out.  Hope you like it too.

For more inspiration, please pop over to the CCM blog and take a look at the fabulous creations by my Teamies.  Would love it if you joined in with the Challenge.

Thank you so much for your visit and the lovely comments as well.  I haven't done much crafting of late so I haven't posted as often and I also haven't done a lot of visiting either (I do apologise for that) so I'm especially grateful for your visits and comments.  I'm hoping things will get back to normal soon.

Take care and God Bless.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #259 - Masculine

Hello everyone and welcome to my bloggy space.
A very special welcome to my new followers.  I am so pleased you decided to join me on my creative journey.

It's time again for a new Challenge at Crafty Cardmakers.  It is my turn to host this one, and the Theme is Masculine!
As always, anything you care to create is fine as long as you follow our Theme and, please, link your project to the Challenge post and not to the main CCM blog.  Thanks.

Of course, I created a card.
I used Kaisercraft paper for the base of my design ..
.. and added some texture paste through a stencil for a little more interest to the background.
I then created the cluster with a scrap piece of Prima paper, fussy cut clocks, die-cut cogs and a small wooden gear.
The Best Wishes chippie is by Scrapmatts.
Would love it if you could pop over to the CCM blog and take a look at the fabulous creations by my Teamies.  You will find some wonderful inspiration there as well as the link to the Challenge.  I sincerely hope you will join in the fun and am looking forward to seeing what you create.
