Hello everyone and welcome to my bit of blog space.
Hope you are enjoying your day so far.
It's time for another Challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers. This time Kim is our host and the Theme is 'Animal Magic' so, we would love to see your creations based on an animal theme.
As always, you may create anything you like but please make sure your project has an animal large enough for us to see. We are excluding insects for this one so, no bugs, butterflies or bees please. Your project may still include them but you will also need to add an animal to meet the challenge theme.
My DT contribution is a Christmas card.
The inspiration for this card came from one created by Pamellia Johnson who is, in my humble opinion, a totally brilliant card maker. If you love shabby chic you will adore her beautiful work as I do. She also shares the most amazing wildlife photos on her posts so, if you like birds and squirrels and other assorted small, wild creatures, you will love that aspect of her work as well. I urge you to go and take a look HERE.
The papers used are from Craft Smiths and Kaisercraft.
The poinsettia is handmade with a die from Poppy Crafts and the small white flower is a Cherry Blossom which is available from Megs Garden.
The reindeer is a chipboard piece from 2Crafty Chipboard. I originally coloured it red for use on another project but then decided to use it here and heat embossed it in gold. I wasn't too fussy about the coverage so you can still see where some of the red shines through.

The greeting ornament is from Scrapmatts. I used a fine texta to colour the writing but, as you can see, I obviously am hopeless at colouring in between the lines!! LOL!! It really stands out in a close-up but, is not quite so noticeable in RL. Added my standard prills and micro beads!
.. and the full frontal!
I hope I have given you some inspiration to join in with the Challenge.

Another glorious Christmas card with the lush layering and attention to detail. I think your Deer looks perfect just the way it is. Glad someone else colours something and then embosses over the top! Love the tiny beads and prills, they add a touch of shimmer along with the gold bows. Love your work Margaret. x

Stunning card. Very beautiful details. judy
ReplyDeleteOh yes - so clever to use a deer image for this challenge! Love it!
ReplyDeleteMargaret, this is really beautiful, and I know you have done Pamellia proud! I agree, she is such an inspiration, as YOU are! I love the layers of beautiful papers and that embossed deer and sweet poinsettia are gorgeous details! I think the fact a tiny bit of red shows through on your deer and the less than perfect lettering on the sentiment add to the rustic charm I so adore about this card! Wish I had all day to sit here and catch up on your blog. I've missed so many lovely makes from you! Sending big hugs!
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous layering and I love the addition of the tulle! The glittered deer steals the show. Such a beautiful card. Hugs, Autumn

ReplyDeleteHi Marg! I hope this finds you well.. A bit wet for us today and I dont mind at all!! I love your card, the reindeer looks fabulous and I love the red peeking through a bit, and love the poinsettia flower and the layers.. a fabulous Christmas card, and it wont be long and it will be on its way to someone special I am sure!! just around the corner is December... phew I am not keeping up with the days!! hehe..
ReplyDeleteWOW WOW WOW!! Margaret, this is one of my favourites of yours so far this year! The papers you used are fantastic and you know how much I love me some lace, so those bits tucked in between the layers are a detail that I just love! Your poinsettia is so beautiful, the red really pops against the subtle tones of the papers. Your reindeer is the show stopper though, he just grabs the eye with his glitter body and graceful pose, love love love!!
ReplyDeleteI am so thrilled to be even a small part of your inspiration Margaret! Thank you so much for your kind words and sweet mention, I'm completely honoured and grateful to call you a friend! Hope you're having a great week. It's very dark and overcast here, but we finally had our first frost of the season so I'm hoping that's a sign that we will soon get some snow. sending hugs :)

Fabulous golden accents from the deer and that wonderful glittering string - it brings the whole card to life with movement and sparkle.
