Cogs & Gears for the Boys

Hello dear crafty friends!  So pleased you stopped by.
Hope your day is going well.

Thought it was time to share a couple more of my masculine cards with you today.  Nothing new I'm afraid .. simply more of my embossed and diecut cards.  The designs are pretty much the same, just different papers and different stamps used.

The papers are by Kaisercraft as are the wooden cogs.
Actually, pretty much everything I have used on this card is by Kaisercraft.  The dp is from their Anthology Paper pad, and I've used their 'Arty' stamp and their 'Texture Subway' die in the background.  The only thing not K'craft is the embossing powder which is 'Seafoam White' by Ranger.
The greeting is also from the paper pad.  I mounted it onto a piece of card for extra strength.
Obviously didn't clean the edges of the stamp before putting it to the paper, but I don't mind a bit of extra texture.

Added an extra strip of paper (I believe it's from Prima) behind the die and cogs on this card and, as you can see, I also coloured the cogs this time.
One of these cogs is actually a die cut.  Can you tell which one??

There you go!  Two different looks from two cards made almost exactly the same.

Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a look.
Have yourselves a wonderful and crafty day!
Take care and God Bless.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #237

Hello everyone and welcome!!  So happy that you stopped by.
A very special welcome for my new followers!  So pleased you decided to join me on my creative journey.

A new Challenge is now live at Crafty Cardmakers and the Theme is Dies or Punches!  Jo is our lovely Host and, as always, you may create whatever you wish as long as it follows the Theme.

For my DT contribution, I have created a masculine card and, as I don't have very many punches, I have used a couple of dies.

The papers are by Kaisercraft.  I love to use their 6.5" x 6.5" pads as they are the perfect size for cards.
Some embossing and stamping on the background.  Both the harlequin and the script stamp are also by Kaisercraft.
The die above is called Texture Subway and, you guessed it, it's by Kaisercraft!!  The greeting is also by Kaisercraft.  In the back of their paper pads they have a couple of pages of little punch out greetings.  Another reason I love their pads.
The clock is a printable from the net and the Cogs & Gears die is by .. wait for it! .. Cheery Lynne.  Surprise!! It's not by Kaisercraft!  LOL!!
These types of diecuts can be very thin and flimsy and I like my embellies to be a bit more substantial so I usually cut the shapes out a few times and then glue them on top of each other for more dimension.  I also aged the cogs and gears by swiping them with a bit of Nuvo Embellishment Mousse.

Used a bit of the same paper to decorate the inside.
So crafters, get out your dies and punches and join in with the Challenge!!  Would love to see what you create.  If you pop over to the CCM blog you will find a whole heap of fabulous inspiration by the rest of the Team.

Thank you so much for stopping by.
Take care and God Bless.

You're Tagged - A Masculine Card

Hello my dear friends and welcome to my crafty space.
Hope you're having a great day.

I'm here to show you a masculine card today.  I made this one a few months ago but never got around to sharing it.

If I remember rightly, the papers are from Kaisercraft but I have no idea which collection they are from.
I cut 4 layers of paper to fit the size of the card and then tore the two top layers diagonally across.
Created a couple of tags from another sheet, added some twine and a little stamping ..
.. and tucked them in between the torn layers.
The ruler is a piece cut from a scrap of Prima paper and the sentiment is a cut apart from Kaisercraft.
For a little added interest, I attached the twine to the card with a couple of staples, slid on a paper clip at the side, and I was done!!

That's all from me today.  Thank you so much for stopping by and for any comment you may care to leave.  I do appreciate it.

Have a fabulous day my friends.
Take care and God Bless.

Get Well Soon

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog.  Do hope you are all having a wonderful day.
Can you believe we are almost half way through August??   Thought by now I would have lots of Christmas cards done but, plans often go awry don't they?  Mine certainly did.  Lots of things have happened lately and not all of it good.  But that is life I guess.  You have to face the bad along with the good and hope it all comes out right in the end.

The card I'm sharing today was made for a very close member of our family who was extremely ill.  Made this in the hope of cheering him up.

Lots of layers of mostly Prima papers, either torn to size or distressed on the edges.
A couple of tags tucked in with a bit of twine for textrue
The greeting was printed with my labeller and simply mounted on some cardstock.
A couple of eyelets and one of my fave flairs (I only have one left .. boo! hoo!) ..
.. and a Prima light globe.

I am very happy to report that the patient is out of hospital and, although not 100% yet, is getting better every day.  My heartfelt thanks to the wonderful nursing staff at Flinders Medical Centre here in Adelaide.  Due to some woeful Government Policies (so called Transforming Health) they are under staffed, under equipped and over worked yet still manage under those difficult conditions to take very good care of their patients.  Thank you one and all.

Thank you so much for visiting and taking a look at my little makes.
Whatever your plans are for the day, have a good one!
Take care and God Bless.

Masculine with Lots of Layers

Hello sweet crafty peeps and welcome to my blog.  Hope you are all having a fabulous day.

Sharing another of my 'man' cards today.
In my last post I shared the card I made for my oldest son's (and his wife's too of course) Anniversary.  This card was made for his birthday.  The Anniversary card was a bit  'girly' for him (although I'm sure he still liked it, LOL!!)  but he was quite happy with this one.

The papers are mostly from Maja but there are also a few scraps from other Manufacturers .. not sure which though.
Used my scissors to distress all the edges.

Hadn't used my embossing folders for ages so decided to emboss one of the paper layers to add a bit of interest.  I lightly rubbed a Charcoal VersaColor inkpad over the embossing to help it stand out a bit more.

Tiny bit of metal wire that just appeared on my work desk (not sure how, or where it came from??  Must have been lurking amongst the mess!!  LOL!!) so I added that to my card as well as a chippy from Scrapmatts.

A couple of screw top brads and a square paper clip were also included.

Added some black and white paint splatters.

The inside ..

Voila!!  All done!!

The challenge at Crafty Cardmakers is all about embossing so, I thought I would enter this one over there.

Thank you all so much for your visit and for taking a look at my creations.   Enjoy what's left of the week and have a great weekend!!!
Take care and God Bless.

One for the Guys ...

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog.  So glad you dropped in for a visit and I hope you are having a wonderful day.

Sharing another 'Man' card with you today.  This one was made for my oldest grandson's 20th Birthday.  Can't believe both my grandson's are pretty well all grown up now.  Even my granddaughter will become a teenager next birthday.  Where have all the years gone!!!??

Anyway, here is my card.
Pretty grungy hey!!!  That's how I like my masculine cards ... lots of distressing and lots of grunge!!

Kaisercraft papers and some corrugated cardboard make up the base and I added some crackle for texture.
I'm in the process of tidying up my stash and discovered some metal embellies that I totally forgot I had, so a lot of them ended up on this card along with some wooden cogs.  Also added some small pieces of gutter guard at the sides.

Of course, I couldn't leave them clean and neat so I used some paints and gesso to mess them up.
Love that sparkplug!!!

I also added some seed beads.  Thought they might look a bit like ball bearings.  Not sure that that worked but I do like them there anyway.

The inside with the sentiment.  I got a bit enthusiastic and wrote a personal message before I took the photographs so I had to block that out.  That's what happens early in the morning when your brain is still asleep.  LOL!!

Of course, when everything was glued down and dry, I had to spread some random bits of gesso around!!

So, there you have it!!  Another of my grungy male cards done!!  Happy to say, it was well received.  I am absolutely stoked that my grandies, and my kids too, save the cards I make for them.  A lot of my friends do as well so my efforts are not wasted!!  Love it!!

Hope the weather is nice wherever you are.  It's a bit cold and wet in Adelaide at the moment but I am so glad we didn't get the storms that they had on the east coast.  They were absolutely horrendous and I sincerely hope it's all over now and people can get their lives back together.
My thoughts and prayers go to everyone in that part of our country.  I have some close friends and some scrappy friends who live up that way but, luckily, they all came through it reasonably well.

Thank you so much for visiting and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
Take care, stay safe and God Bless.
