Hello my lovelies and welcome. So pleased you stopped by my blog today.
It's time for another Challenge at Crafty Cardmakers. Valerie is our host and the Theme is 'No Patterned Paper".
No patterned paper?? So, what can I use?? Ahh!! I still have a piece left over from that Masterboard I made a while ago .. I'll use some of that!!
Well, the idea didn't come about quite that simply. Took a while to even remember that I had the piece .. LOL!! But, once I located it, it all went fairly quickly from there.

I actually procrastinated about this Challenge for nearly two weeks. Yeah, I know, pathetic, huh!! Just didn't know what I wanted to do. Did I just want to use cardstock, did I want to create a Masterboard or just a simple MM background?? Kept putting it off and putting it off until I only had a day or two left to get it done!!!
Took a little while to find this left over piece of Masterboard. I had put it in a safe place so I wouldn't lose it! Well, it was so safe that I couldn't even find it .. LOL!! When I finally did find it, I simply cut it to the size I needed, lightly inked the edges with Ground Espresso Distress Ink and then adhered it to my card blank.
So, my card was almost finished but it just needed something more. Ah!! Of course!! The old reliable prills!! Perfect! (Yes, I did try mixing a few microbeads in as well but didn't like how it looked so took them out again. A few of them managed to hang in there though. LOL!)
Mmmmm!! There's still something missing!! What's this floating around on my workbench?? Ah!! A little sentiment left over from another project .. the perfect thing!!
.. and done!!
Sorry about all the silliness .. just felt in one of those moods .. LOL!!
I hope you will pop on over to Crafty Cardmakers and check out the gorgeous creations by the rest of the Team. I am sure you will feel inspired to join in with the Challenge!!

Needed something to go under the flowers and I was going to use a stamp but, those of you who know my work, will also know that stamping very rarely works well for me. So, I decided to use a die cut instead. This one is by Altenew and is available at Megs Garden.

Well, after all that procastrinating the card worked out perfectly!! The masterboard piece looks fantastic (and oh yes, I know all about keeping things in "safe" places), but it was worth the search. The finishing touches with the diecut and prills are just perfect! A fantastic card!!
ReplyDeleteI love your stunning card Margaret. Loooove that fantastic background.

I enjoyed the silliness, Margaret! What a beautiful card you have put together in such short order! Your background is so rich and shows off that die cut and flowers beautifully! I think before purchasing any more die cuts, I should consult with you first, because you have a great eye for the most effective and useful ones! Sending big hugs! My apologies for not getting around. Life is so terribly hectic right now as I find yet more 'hats to wear. Please know I am thinking of you...
ReplyDeleteStunning card Margaret, the background is amazing, a piece of art on its own. I am glad you located it, I don't know how many times I remember I have something 'somewhere' and spend ages trying to find that one piece of paper in my stash LOL The flowers and sentiment pop so wonderfully, just a divine card, love it ... xx
ReplyDeleteOh Margaret, you've done a wonderful job without patterned paper! Plus it's a great excuse to whip out your mixed media products. lol. LOVE your background, so gorgeous! Your flowers and swirls and Prills, so much contrast and it works wonderfully!
ReplyDeleteI've been busy planning my patio garden and I wanted to replace my annuals with perennials this year, so I wouldn't have to plant new flowers every spring. I purchased some Violas because they are so pretty and mildly fragrant. Plus, they are completely safe for the squirrels, so I thought they would be perfect. Turns out they only bloom in spring and autumn. I would have no flowers during the heat of summer! Now it's back to the drawing board! DOH!
Such a beautiful card Margy, and just love that die you have used! xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. Lovely details. Have a creative week. Judy
ReplyDeleteLove the silliness Margy - should be more of it! I so relate to your procrastinating and then having something stashed in a safe place! I love this card, the background, the chippie, the prills, it's something a bit different from you and I love the dramatic simplicity....Hmmm that's probs an oxymoron! x
ReplyDeleteLOL! LOOOVE your 'sillyness' - hello! Thought I'd pop in and do a few blogs for a change in life. And here you have, switching it up as well. That challenge certainly would make me think outside the square.... as it did you. You rocked it, of course. And don't you LOVE when that thing sitting on your desk just fits the project you're working on to a T? Love it, Margy!!!
