Hello sweet crafty friends, thank you for stopping by my blog today.
Hope your weather is being nice. We had some lovely days down here in Adelaide and then all of a sudden we're back to winter again. Don't know what's going on but I don't think anyone is enjoying these destructive storms we keep having .. most unusual. Let's hope we don't have any more.
Ok, finished complaining about the weather. I am actually here to share a birthday card created for my niece.
This one is a little different for me. Just recently, in October actually, I participated in the 'Hop to Stop' and created a few CAS cards for it. (If you'd like to take a look HERE is the link) They were totally out of my comfort zone but I quite enjoyed the challenge and decided to have another try.
This is about as clean and simple as I got.
After cutting the card base I sprayed the front with a little 'Whale Watch Blue' Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Spray.
I used up some more of those gorgeous Maja papers I received as a gift from Heather Jacob. After not being able to get my hands on any, I now have so much that I won't run out for ages .. and ages .. and ages and .. well, you get the idea!! LOL!!
Still used flowers (it is a girly card after all), but only a couple and just added a twine bow.

Added some washi tape under the cluster and a scrapmatts chippie.
The chippie was coloured with 'Lapislazuli' stamp pad by VersaColor and then coated in Glossy Accents.
Popped a few sticky back gems around and added some micro beads as well. Wanted to add a lot more stuff but had to keep reminding myself that this was supposed to be clean and simple. LOL!!
The usual on the inside. One pocket to hold a gift voucher and the other to hold a journal card with a personal message.
LOVE it....that 'paintery' work on the bg looks stunning....& it's nice to do a CAS [ish!!!] card, cos then it's not all covered up:) I really love that twine bow.... & that chippy! Every time I see you use Glossy Accents I think I must get mine out!!! Our weather has been hot and now it's gotten coldish. Crazy weather. The rellies in NZ are sort of hanging in there. Not fun in Chch again atm!!
ReplyDeleteLove your version of C&S. The soft watercolour paint effect in the background sets the tone for this elegant card. Especially love the colour on the chippy. TFS
ReplyDeleteOh how gorgeous, Margaret!! Love the little bits like the microbeads!! ~ Blessings, Tracey
ReplyDeleteStunning Margaret! I'm the same as you, clean and simple is really not my thing, but I sure do love the way you do it!! A flower here, a spattery splash there, presto... clean and simple, yet wonderfully shabby and beautiful!! Well done. hugs :)
ReplyDeleteHi Margaret! I know what you mean. It's so hard to do simple-lol, but you've really rocked it! The Starburst spray is subtle but adds tons of interest. The layered shabby papers draw the eye immediately to the focal point. I love all the tiny details you've added while still keeping within the clean and simple. An absolutely divine card!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Nancy
YIKES! I love your CAS style it is beautiful and the paint underneath so delicate. Just lovely Marg... Lucky whoever gets this one. I love how you cluster your flowers. Something I just can't get my head around... They always look SOOOOOOO big on anything I do :D
ReplyDeleteLove your versions of C&S, fabulous mixed media effects on these, and you always finish whatever you do in such a wonderful way!!
