Still doing the 'Man' Cards

Hello everyone and welcome.  Hope you are all having a wonderful day.

Here I am again with another of my 'man' cards.  Got lots of these to do each year so, once I get going, I try to get as many done as I can.  I am really loving the double fold cards with the tied down tags at the moment so you are going to see quite a few of these.

This is actually a scheduled post as I am away on a Cruise to New Zealand with my darling hubby.  We are celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary.  Can't quite get my head around that.  Where did all those years go????!!!

The papers are all from Kaisercraft although from different collections.  Made a slight change in the way I tied down these tags, that way they don't all look exactly the same (sort of).

Added a mini bulldog clip ('cos I think they look cool ) ..

.. a Prima light bulb (same reason) ..

.. some metal cogs  ..

.. and some scattered prills which are becoming a huge fave!!  (for me anyway)

Of course, I also had to add some washi tape!

The red background paper was fairly plain so I dry brushed some white acrylic paint around the edges.  Didn't quite turn out the way I'd hoped so, not sure if I'll do that again.  Note to self ; try this before sticking everything down or, at least, try it out on some scrap first!!

When the card was finished I also added some black and white paint splashes ..
.. and another man card done and dusted.  Just be aware, there are still a lot more to come. he! he!

Thank you so much for visiting and I enjoy the rest of your day.
Take care and God Bless.

Spring Pastels Take #2 for Megs Garden

Hello sweet visitors and welcome to my blog.  So pleased you dropped by for a visit.

Sharing another card today made with some lovely goodies from Megs Garden.

The papers are from the Spring Pastels Collection.  You can buy them already printed but  the ones I've used here I printed out myself from the digital version.  These came out fairly pale (which is what I wanted) but, when you are printing them out yourself, you have the option of printing them any way you like.

Edged the top layer of paper with Martha Stewart's Floral Vine Deep Edge Punch and added the chippie pieces for extra interest.

The yellow bloom below is the Puffy Paper Flower which is available from the Garden (I will list all of Megs products at the end of this post).   It was white originally and I simply sprayed it with some Liquitex ink.

The large white bloom is the Azalea .. available from Megs Garden of course .. and so is the large Mini Rose Bud.  The Azalea was left as is but I did re-colour the rosebud.

The other flowers in this cluster are from my stash.

Sprinkled the flowers and card with a mix of clear and pale pink micro beads and added some glitter to the chipboard pieces.

The papers used on the inside were also edged with the same punch as before.  Aren't those papers pretty???   I love the subtle pattern.

A little gauze under the cluster just to soften the look and my card was done!!

Megs Garden Products used
Spring Pastels Mini Book/Album/Journal Papers
Puffy Paper Flowers
Azaleas
Lge Mini Rose Buds

Thank you so much for dropping by and taking a look.  Why not pop over to Megs Garden Blog and take a look at the lovely projects from the rest of the Team.  I'm sure you will find lots of inspiration there.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge - 183# Go Green!!

Hello everybody and welcome!  So pleased you dropped in for a visit.

It is time for another Challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers and this time Judy is our host and the Challenge is to Go Green!!
We want to see lots of lovely lush green on your creations in honour of St. Patrick's Day which is on the 17th of March.  As usual, anything you care to make is fine as long as it fits the Theme.

So, Go Green and enter the Challenge!!!  We would love to see what you create!!!

This is my DT contribution.

The papers are from Kaisercraft and the flowers are from Megs Garden.  The larger blooms were coloured with watered down paints.

Scraped some texture paste through a stencil for extra interest and couldn't resist  adding some prills.  (One of my current fave things)

Also popped on some green glass glitter (available from Megs Garden) for a bit of sparkle (although that is a bit hard to see in the photos)..

.. and printed the greeting from my computer, then punched it out with a circle punch and covered it with an epoxy sticker.
The ribbon was coloured with some Liquitex ink.  I actually had coloured it with some watered down acrylic paint but it was way too dark.  Before it dried I actually washed it out and then recoloured it with the ink.  You can still see some remnants of the paint in places but, I think, the different shades are quite interesting.

Placed some guaze under the cluster to add more texture and soften the look.

Simple decoration on the inside.  The right side is a pocket into which I can insert a tag with a personal message.

And there you go .. my DT contribution to the 'Go Green' Challenge.

Hope you like it and feel inspired to join in with the Challenge .. we would love to see your 'green' creations.

Yep! Another Man Card!!!

Hello crafty visitors.  Welcome to my blog.

Back again I am with another 'man' card.  Seems that's all I'm making at the mo (not really though) but when I'm on a roll, I've just got to keep going.  Do need lots of these during the year so it's all good.

This one was made with a mix of Maja and Kaisercraft papers.

I'm really liking the look of those tied down tags and so I've made a couple like that now.  Actually have a few more in the pipeline as well so you just may get sick of seeing these  but, as I said earlier, when I'm on a roll ....

.. and flairs!!  Another fave at the mo.  Lizzy Hill got me started on these so, blame her, I do.  LOL!!  I actually found quite a lot of these in my stash.   I reckon I've had them for years and had totally forgotten about them.  Coming in handy now though.

Metal cogs (always a fave of mine for 'man' cards) with a few prills (love those) and some washi tape (yep! Another fave at the mo.).

Attached a few  brads .. and more prills.

Another flair .. a tiny one this time .. and, you guessed it, more prills.

The usual on the inside ..

.. and the finished card!!

I find with these double fold cards that you really need a closure if you want them to lay flat.  On the feminine ones I usually just wrap a ribbon around it.  It looks pretty and it certainly does the job.  For a 'man' card though, I find magnets are the way to go and I have found the perfect ones to use.  They are from Basic Grey and they are fabulous.  Slim and super strong they are perfect for cards and for mini albums too.  I have found that even with 3 or 4 layers of dp in between they still stick beautifully.  So, if you're looking for some decent magnets, get the Basic Grey ones .. I love them!!

Well, that's it from me for now.  Thank you so much for dropping by and taking a look at my creations.  I hope I have inspired you in some small way.

Have a fabulous week!!
Take care and God Bless.

Crafty Cardmakers #182 - Add Some Texture!!

Hello sweet visitors and welcome to my blog.  So nice of you to drop in for a visit.

Maike is the host for the current challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers which is to add some texture.
You can interpret this any way you like.  Either embossing (heat or dry), texture paste, fabric, anything that comes to mind.  Let your imagination go wild!  You don't have to make a card, anything you wish to enter is fine.  It can be a card,  a scrap layout, mixed media piece, home decor or anything else you care to create as long as it fits the theme.

For my contribution, I decided to make a 'man' card.

The papers are from Kaisercraft's Base Coat.  An older collection but, for male cards, it is ideal.

Plenty of paper layers with the edges distressed, and I have added some texture paste through a stencil, some burlap webbing and washi tape.

The clocks and cogs, etc. used as my focal image was found on the net.  I printed it out a couple of times and fussy cut the clock and some of the cogs so I could layer it for more dimension.
I did try covering the top layer with some crackle paste but it totally washed out the colour so then I simply added a few epoxy stickers which worked out well I think.  Have to get myself some clear gesso if I want to try the crackle paste again.

Was hunting through my punches for another project and found this corner punch which I'd forgotten about.  Thought it perfect for this.

The usual on the inside ..

.. and done!!

I hope I have inspired you to join in with the challenge.
