Watercolour in Blues - Cards for Megs Garden

Hello sweet visitors and welcome to my blog.
Hope you are having a wonderful day.

I'd like to share two cards with you today created with the beautiful Watercolour in Blues Paper Collection exclusive to Megs Garden.
I have to say, one thing I really love about the Megs Garden papers is that they come in so many different sizes.  There's the Mini Paper Pack (which is what I've used here), the Papercrafter Mini Packs, the A4 papers, the 12" x 12" Scrapbooking papers and also the Mini Book Papers.   On top of that you also have the matching ephemera papers and they all come in either a printed version or a digital downloadable version.  So, whatever you choose to create, you will find a Megs Garden Collection which is eminently suitable for your project.  I think that is awesome don't you??

For my first card I used the Watercolour in Blues 03 paper.

Added a touch of stenciling with texture paste and also did a little stamping.

The flowers used are all from Megs Garden. (I will pop a list of all Megs' products used at the end of this post)  I just added some colour to the puffy paper flowers to match in with the papers.  The frame was made with a mould and some hot glue and then painted with acrylic paint.
I was asked by a couple of people to do a tutorial on these frames but there's not really very much to it.  You simply need a mould and then just squirt the hot glue into it.  One little tip I can give you though is, make sure you place the nozzle right down into the mould so the glue can run into all the little details before it cools.  It took me a couple of tries before I realised this, so my first few frames had a few bubbles and missed detail.     Also, make sure you don't overfill the mould as you want to keep the back nice and flat.

The doily is also from Megs Garden.

The small lock came from my stash.

Watercolour in BLues 04 is what I used to create two pockets on the inside.  One is for a Gift Voucher and the other for a tag with a personal message to the recipient.

My second card was created with Watercolour in Blues 01.

In between the papers I layered some gauze, some lace and a doily cut in half.

The large bloom is from Megs Garden and I have again added another small frame.  To make the frame this time I used some Mod Podge Melts.  I have discovered that they are much easier than hot glue to fill the moulds with.  Once heated they are a thinner consistency than the glue and they fill the moulds better.  Plus the sticks come in different colours so may not need to be painted.

I added a few micro beads and some die cut leaves ..

.. and some cotton for more interest and texture.

As I prefer to add my personal message on a tag or journaling card I usually create at least one pocket for the inside of my cards.  Here I have used Watercolour in BLues 06 and Martha Stewart's Floral Vine Deep Edge Punch.

As I stated at the beginning of this post, I love Megs Garden papers.  Apart from the fact that you can get them in either printed or downloadable versions  they are also totally gorgeous.

Thank you so much for dropping by and taking a look at my little creations.

Christmas in August #2

Hello sweet visitors and welcome to my blog.  I hope everyone is having a lovely day.
Our weather here in Adelaide has been really lovely the last couple of days.   I hope it lasts a bit longer ..  loving it!!

I'm back today to share another of my early Christmas cards.  This one is a little bit different.  I  haven't made one quite like this before but I really like it so I know I'll be doing it again.
The papers are from Kaisercraft.  I have so many of their 6 x 6 pads, I thought it was time to start using it up.  So, even though they are not Christmas papers per se, I'm finding them quite suitable for these cards.

A little bit of stenciling ..

.. and a touch of glitter.
The flower is a White Apple Blossom by Green Tara  which is available at Megs Garden.  I simply sprayed it with Dylusion Ink.  I think the colour is called Cherry Pie but, unfortunately, I can't put my hands on it at the moment.  Obviously wasn't put back in it's right place last time I used it.  Have to have a treasure hunt me thinks, LOL!!

Used the pine branch die again .. really love that for Chrissy cards!

Used a Distress Ink pad to colour the gauze underneath the cluster.  So easy to do!

Added a few prills too!!  Not easy to see but you can just make them out here I think.

The inside, ready for a personal message.

I was ready to add this to my stash of cards  but thought that side flap just needed something.  Had a light bulb moment  (Yes, I know, it's really obvious what should go there isn't it?? )  So I added a gold sticker sentiment .. (Duh!!) ..

.. and, 'Voila!'  Done!!

Thought I'd throw my hat in the ring with this one and entered it into a couple of challenges

Christmas Card Challenges # 36 - Optional Challenge - Angels
12 Months of Christmas Link Up # 20 - Optional theme - Christmas Confectionery

Thank you so much for dropping by and taking a look at my little creations.
Have a lovely day and enjoy the rest of the week.
Take care and God Bless.

Christmas in August.

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog.  Hope you are all having a wonderful day.

So, I have finally created another Christmas card and thought I'd share it with you.  It's still early I know, but there's only four months to go till Christmas so I need to get cracking.
I KNOW!!!  Freaked me out too!!  How did it get so close so soon??  The last one was only a couple of months ago wasn't it????   Seems like it anyway .. LOL!!

The papers used are from Kaisercraft's  'Heirloom'  6 x 6 Paper pack along with a small scrap piece from their 'Holy Night' papers.

Only a couple of layers on this one but I did add a little lace in between.

The white bloom is 'Azalea' available from Megs Garden.  Love this flower .. it is reasonable large but not too bulky, so it's ideal for cards and also very easy to alter, colourwise, if necessary.

The bauble sprig is cut from a cheap Christmas decoration.

When the card was finished, I added a few paint splatters and, while the paint was still wet, I sprinkled some glitter over the top.  You can't really see it on these piccies but the glitter has a touch of gold in it .. looks really pretty.

The chippies are from Scrapmatts . Picked them up at a Craft Show that was on in Adelaide just recently along with some other lovely little bargains.   I've used them raw .. just added a bit of white paint and glitter at the top of the bauble.

I really love this pine bough die from  Impression Obsession.  Think I have used it on just about all of my Christmas cards for this year.

This little flower is the 'Cherry Blossom' also available at Megs Garden.  It was white originally and I just sprayed it with some Dylusion Ink.

... And another Christmas card done and dusted.  Hoping to make a few more this month as I am way behind on my original plan of doing two each month.  Still, I have more cards now than I had at this time last year and that is really good.

Last Saturday I had a girl's day out with Astrid MacClean, Heather Jacob, Adriana Bolzon and Helen Wallace.  Astrid is in Australia visiting her family in Melbourne and was able to come to Adelaide for a couple of days.  It was so wonderful to meet her  in person and we all had a fantastic day together.  Lots of fun and laughter was had by all.  Thought I would share a couple of piccies.

We swapped some hand made gifts as well and I will share those with you over the next few weeks.
Thank you my gorgeous friends for a truly wonderful day.

Once again, thank you so much for dropping by and I hope you have a fantastic week.

Till next time, take care and God Bless.

Celebrate!

Hello my sweet crafty friends and welcome to my blog.  Hope you are all having a wonderful day.

I cannot believe it is the 1st of August already!!  Where has this year gone???  Flew past me at the speed of sound I think .. won't be long and we'll be celebrating Christmas again.  Didn't that happen only a couple of weeks ago???  Scary!!

Anyways, I'm back to share another masculine card with you today.  This is a fairly clean and simple card made for a close friend who celebrated his birthday recently.

The papers used are some left-over scraps from other projects so it's a bit of  a mix.  Some from Kairsercraft some from Prima and some from Megs Garden.  Some layers were cut in my trimmer, some were distressed and some were simply torn to size.

Added a little stamping too.  The ink splat was made with a Kaisercraft stamp and archival ink.

Ran the base layer through a Tim Holtz die for a bit of interest.  Such a simple thing to do but it is so effective.  Love the look.

Used a Scrapmatts chippie for the greeting.

The usual pockets on the inside ..

.. and .. voila!!

 All done!!!

Thank you so much for dropping by and looking at my little creations .. I very much appreciate you taking the time.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your week and that the weather is kind to you.  'Till next time ..
Take care and God Bless.
