'English Rose Garden' - Cards for Megs Garden

Hi everyone and a very warm welcome to my bloggy space and a very special welcome to my new followers.  Thank you so much for joining me.  Hope you are all having a wonderful day.

I'm back again to share my projects for the Megs Garden DT.  This time I have created two more cards with the lovely 'English Rose Garden' papers.  I think I mentioned in a previous post how much I love these papers.. they are so pretty and simply perfect for anything 'shabby chic'.

It is winter here in Australia and it has been bitterly cold and wet and I, for one, have certainly had enough of this weather.  I made these cards with some lovely summery colours just to brighten up the day a bit.

For the base paper I've used 'Leaves &Foliage' and then added some scraps from 'Bouquet of Roses' and 'Roses & Flowers'  plus a small scrap taken from the Butterfly Book Kit to add a little contrast.

I added a little texture with a Prima Damask Stencil and some paste and cut a small metal trinket in half and inserted it in between the paper layers.

The 'Puffy Paper Flower' (one of my favourite flowers to use) was coloured with acrylic paint.  I usually buy my flowers white and then mix my own colours of acrylic paint to get the shades I need.  Place them in a spray bottle, fill it up with water and the paint will spray quite easily.  I used the same method to colour the small paper roses.

The gorgeous lace was attached with a glue gun.  I simply gathered it slightly as I was glueing it down.

Used a couple of strips from the 'Pink Rose Vine' paper to decorate the inside of the card.  The left side was edged with Martha Stewart's Floral Vine Deep Etch Border Punch.

Added some seed beads, some twine made into a bow, some pieces of gauze and even a twist of cotton thread in and around my flower clusters.  Once everything was assembled, I dry brushed some gesso in random places to create some highlights.

So, that was card number one, and this is card number two ..

Tim Holtz Studio Keyholes
http://megsgarden.com/contents/en-us/d429.html

For this card I used two pieces from the 'Roses & Flowers' sheet.  Cut them to size and distressed the edges with a distressing tool.

My fave flower again .. the pretty 'Puffy Paper Flower' sprayed the same as on my previous card.

This bloom is the 'Ivory Primula'.  It is a lovely creamy white fabric flower which has been altered using watered down 'Peeled Paint' Distress Paint.

Megs Garden also sells some Tim Holtz products.  This is one of the 'Keyholes'.  I simply glued it down and swiped it with a little gesso.

The seam binding was sprayed with the same colour as the Primula then crumpled up and dried.  Wrapped it around the top paper layer and simply tied it in a bow.

Added some gauze in between the paper layers, some seed beads in a few spots and some strands of twine to the cluster.  Swiped some gesso in random places and my card was done!!   Adding these little touches just adds so much interest to a card .. well, I think so anyway .. LOL!!

If you wish to take a closer look at the products used here simply click on the product pictures and it will take you to the web page.  Also, why not go over and take a look at the wonderful projects created by my Team mates .. I know you will be inspired.  HERE is the link.

Man Oh! Man

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog.  So pleased you stopped by for a visit.  Hope your day is going well.

So, here I am back to share another of my 'guy' cards.  I actually love the colours I've used on this one ..  my fave combo for masculine cards I think!!

The papers are a mix.  Some  from Kaisercraft and some from papers that I've purchased on Etsy from Kerry-Jean Watson.  Kerry-Jean has some gorgeous digital paper collections for sale  and they are so easy to download and you can print off just the sheets you want for your project.  No wastage, which I love.  You'll find a link to her shop on my side bar if you'd like to take a look.

The chippie is a piece cut from 2Crafty Chipboard's Bubble Grid Panel.  Coloured it with Midnight Black Versa Magic and added some Crackle Accents to the Bubbles.  The metal clock was swiped with Rangers Patina in Rust.  I love that look as the metal really does appear rusted in real life.  I attached the clock to the chippie with a piece of knotted twine which had been rubbed with Gathered Twig Distress Ink.

Some metal cogs from Megs Garden which have also been treated with the 'rust' Patina.

The little tag is a chippie from 2Crafty's Mini Tags.  I simply inked the edges then stamped and embossed the greeting and mounted it on some cardstock.

Another 2Crafty chippie.  This one is from Element Set 1.  I cut one of the pieces in half and then simply embossed it with black embossing powder and lightly swiped with the Patina Rust.  Don't you think the embossing makes it look like cast iron??

The inside lined with Kaisercraft's Base Coat paper which has been  border punched on one side.

Once assembled and dry, I swiped the card randomly with some gesso.

So, there it is.  Another 'guy' card done and dusted.
There will be more to come, just not sure when.

Thank you so much for visiting and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
Take care and God BLess.

More of my 'Guy' Cards

Hello everyone, lovely to have you here for a visit.  Hope you are having a wonderful day and that your weather is treating you kindly.  Must say, it's been really cold in Adelaide lately ... simply hate getting up in the morning.  Although the days themselves haven't been too bad so, I guess, I can't complain too loudly!  LOL!!

As my post title says I have another 'guy' card to share with you.
At this time of the year we have quite a few of our male family members and friends celebrating their birthdays, so I need to make a lot of 'guy' cards.  I'll be sharing quite a few of these over the next week or so.

Thought I would go blue with this one so I've used some papers from Kaisercraft's Blue Bay 6.5" Paper pad.  Distressed all the edges and added a little doodling around some of the edges.   I wanted to add some crackle too but, unfortunately, I had to toss the little I had left in the bin as somebody (I guess we all know who!!) hadn't tightened the lid properly and it had all dried out.  Bumma!!!

The chipboard is from 2Crafty .. I simply coloured it with a VersaColor stamp pad and then just randomly heat embossed it.

You can just see some of the embossing on this photo if you look closely.

The word circle is also from 2Crafty and I've treated it the same as the other piece.

Added a few metal cogs and all I've done to those is swiped them with a little gesso.

I had originally left this top layer of paper white because with all the printing on it I felt that it didn't need any more than that but, when the card was finished I changed my mind and added some stenciling and also rubbed a bit of Distress Ink to colour it up a bit.  I do like it better this way.

The inside ..

.. added some swipes of gesso and .. done!!

As I said at the beginning, I will be sharing more masculine cards over the next few weeks so I hope you found some inspiration here and will come back to take another look.

Thank you so much for visiting and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Take care, stay safe and God Bless.

Cardabilities Challenge # 126

Hello everyone and a very warm welcome to my bloggy space.  So pleased you dropped in for a visit.

Earlier this year I stated that I wanted to do more Challenges to take me out of my comfort zone.  I had planned to do at least one a month .. well, that hasn't happened.  I have done one or two but that's about all .. hopefully that will change and I will get the chance to do more of them.  Whilst looking around the net I came across the Cardabilities site and took a liking to the sketch for their new challenge so I thought I would have a go.

 Here is the sketch ..

which, I thought, would translate quite nicely to a masculine card .. and so, this is what I made.

As you can see, I followed the sketch fairly closely.

The papers used are from Kaisercraft's Antique Bazaar Paper Pad.  Did a little stamping and added  sprinkles of Black Soot Distress Ink and gesso.

I distressed all the edges and then cut a metal trinket in half and inserted it between the paper layers.

Being a masculine card I really didn't want to use flowers so out came some metal cogs and I added those instead.  All the metal embellies have been swiped with Ranger's Patina in Rust.  The word circle is from 2Crafty Chipboard and I just left it raw.

I added the string for some extra interest.

Of course, I had to decorate the inside as well leaving plenty of space for the message.

Once it was all assembled I swiped some gesso in random places.

So, as I said at the beginning this will be entered into the Challenge at Cardabilities and HERE is the link.  If you haven't been there before do go and take a look. Their sketches are fabulous and, though I don't use them often, I found it so easy to make this card by following the sketch.

So, that's it from me, my work here is done .. for now anyway!!

Thank you so much for visiting and leaving me a little love.
Till next time, take care and God Bless.

'Nature' - A Journal created for Megs Garden

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog, again today.  I hope you are still enjoying your day and I am so pleased you dropped by for another visit.  Most unusual for me to have two posts in the one day but it just so happened that my Design Team posts fell due on the same day!!

This time I would like to share with you a small Journal I have created with the stunning Forgotten Meadows Book Kit designed by Kerry-Jean Watson for Megs Garden.

These papers have some gorgeous floral graphics and I chose the lovely Wisteria for my cover.  Added a hint of colour  under the cluster with a spray and also added a little texture.

The chippies are from 2Crafty Chipboard and they were simply coloured with acrylic paint and then coated with Crackle Accents.

These lovely blooms are also from Megs Garden.   The 'Puffy Paper Flower' and the 'Mini Rose' were coloured with watered down acrylic paints.

Instead of cutting the papers for the inside to size I decided to tear all the edges and then ink them with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  Found some lovely 'Nature' quotes on the net and incorporated them into my Journal.  Added some washi tape and ribbon and also some seed beads.

The first two pages ..

The pages in this booklet simply fold out.  Opening the left hand page reveals these two pages.

 Another 2Crafty Chipboard piece ...

... and the lovely vintage image came from the cut and create pages.

Opening the right hand side reveals these pages.

Added a little stamping on this page and sewed it around the edge.  I did quite a bit of sewing in this book, it's a great way to attach paper strips, ribbons and labels etc.

Love the brilliant colours on this butterfly.

The 'butterfly' page opens again to reveal these two pages.

I fussy cut one of the floral graphics and mounted it with some foam dots.

All the metal pieces are available at Megs Garden and I swiped them all with Ranger Metal Patina in Rust.

Here is the book fully opened.

The back cover showing another beautiful floral graphic.

... and the back of the booklet fully opened.

I love the details on these papers.  Apart from the floral graphics there's lots of yummy crackle effects and textures .. simply stunning to work with.
To take a close look at this collection HERE is the Link.  It is available in 12 x 12 papers, a mini pack specially for card makers and also the fabulous Book Kit I've used here.  You can buy them already printed or as a digital download.

Well, I hope you have enjoyed this post and gained some inspiration.  Why not go over to the Megs Garden Blog and take a look at all the fabulous projects created by the rest of the Team.  HERE is the Link.
