More of my 'Guy' Cards

Hello everyone, lovely to have you here for a visit.  Hope you are having a wonderful day and that your weather is treating you kindly.  Must say, it's been really cold in Adelaide lately ... simply hate getting up in the morning.  Although the days themselves haven't been too bad so, I guess, I can't complain too loudly!  LOL!!

As my post title says I have another 'guy' card to share with you.
At this time of the year we have quite a few of our male family members and friends celebrating their birthdays, so I need to make a lot of 'guy' cards.  I'll be sharing quite a few of these over the next week or so.

Thought I would go blue with this one so I've used some papers from Kaisercraft's Blue Bay 6.5" Paper pad.  Distressed all the edges and added a little doodling around some of the edges.   I wanted to add some crackle too but, unfortunately, I had to toss the little I had left in the bin as somebody (I guess we all know who!!) hadn't tightened the lid properly and it had all dried out.  Bumma!!!

The chipboard is from 2Crafty .. I simply coloured it with a VersaColor stamp pad and then just randomly heat embossed it.

You can just see some of the embossing on this photo if you look closely.

The word circle is also from 2Crafty and I've treated it the same as the other piece.

Added a few metal cogs and all I've done to those is swiped them with a little gesso.

I had originally left this top layer of paper white because with all the printing on it I felt that it didn't need any more than that but, when the card was finished I changed my mind and added some stenciling and also rubbed a bit of Distress Ink to colour it up a bit.  I do like it better this way.

The inside ..

.. added some swipes of gesso and .. done!!

As I said at the beginning, I will be sharing more masculine cards over the next few weeks so I hope you found some inspiration here and will come back to take another look.

Thank you so much for visiting and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Take care, stay safe and God Bless.

Cardabilities Challenge # 126

Hello everyone and a very warm welcome to my bloggy space.  So pleased you dropped in for a visit.

Earlier this year I stated that I wanted to do more Challenges to take me out of my comfort zone.  I had planned to do at least one a month .. well, that hasn't happened.  I have done one or two but that's about all .. hopefully that will change and I will get the chance to do more of them.  Whilst looking around the net I came across the Cardabilities site and took a liking to the sketch for their new challenge so I thought I would have a go.

 Here is the sketch ..

which, I thought, would translate quite nicely to a masculine card .. and so, this is what I made.

As you can see, I followed the sketch fairly closely.

The papers used are from Kaisercraft's Antique Bazaar Paper Pad.  Did a little stamping and added  sprinkles of Black Soot Distress Ink and gesso.

I distressed all the edges and then cut a metal trinket in half and inserted it between the paper layers.

Being a masculine card I really didn't want to use flowers so out came some metal cogs and I added those instead.  All the metal embellies have been swiped with Ranger's Patina in Rust.  The word circle is from 2Crafty Chipboard and I just left it raw.

I added the string for some extra interest.

Of course, I had to decorate the inside as well leaving plenty of space for the message.

Once it was all assembled I swiped some gesso in random places.

So, as I said at the beginning this will be entered into the Challenge at Cardabilities and HERE is the link.  If you haven't been there before do go and take a look. Their sketches are fabulous and, though I don't use them often, I found it so easy to make this card by following the sketch.

So, that's it from me, my work here is done .. for now anyway!!

Thank you so much for visiting and leaving me a little love.
Till next time, take care and God Bless.

'Nature' - A Journal created for Megs Garden

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog, again today.  I hope you are still enjoying your day and I am so pleased you dropped by for another visit.  Most unusual for me to have two posts in the one day but it just so happened that my Design Team posts fell due on the same day!!

This time I would like to share with you a small Journal I have created with the stunning Forgotten Meadows Book Kit designed by Kerry-Jean Watson for Megs Garden.

These papers have some gorgeous floral graphics and I chose the lovely Wisteria for my cover.  Added a hint of colour  under the cluster with a spray and also added a little texture.

The chippies are from 2Crafty Chipboard and they were simply coloured with acrylic paint and then coated with Crackle Accents.

These lovely blooms are also from Megs Garden.   The 'Puffy Paper Flower' and the 'Mini Rose' were coloured with watered down acrylic paints.

Instead of cutting the papers for the inside to size I decided to tear all the edges and then ink them with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  Found some lovely 'Nature' quotes on the net and incorporated them into my Journal.  Added some washi tape and ribbon and also some seed beads.

The first two pages ..

The pages in this booklet simply fold out.  Opening the left hand page reveals these two pages.

 Another 2Crafty Chipboard piece ...

... and the lovely vintage image came from the cut and create pages.

Opening the right hand side reveals these pages.

Added a little stamping on this page and sewed it around the edge.  I did quite a bit of sewing in this book, it's a great way to attach paper strips, ribbons and labels etc.

Love the brilliant colours on this butterfly.

The 'butterfly' page opens again to reveal these two pages.

I fussy cut one of the floral graphics and mounted it with some foam dots.

All the metal pieces are available at Megs Garden and I swiped them all with Ranger Metal Patina in Rust.

Here is the book fully opened.

The back cover showing another beautiful floral graphic.

... and the back of the booklet fully opened.

I love the details on these papers.  Apart from the floral graphics there's lots of yummy crackle effects and textures .. simply stunning to work with.
To take a close look at this collection HERE is the Link.  It is available in 12 x 12 papers, a mini pack specially for card makers and also the fabulous Book Kit I've used here.  You can buy them already printed or as a digital download.

My Final Post for 2Crafty Chipboard

Hello everyone and welcome to my bloggy place.  Hope you are all having a wonderful day!

Feeling a bit sad right now.  As the Title suggests this is my last post for 2Crafty as my term on the Resident Guest Design Team has ended.  It has been a wonderful experience for me.  Being on this Team with all these wonderfully talented ladies was a dream come true.   I have so enjoyed working with these amazing chippies.  Thank you so much Vanessa for having me on this incredible Team and also to you and Di for all the support you have provided along the way.  It has been a fantastic experience!!

So, onto my projects.  This time I have created an altered Gift Bag, a Tag and a card.

'The Altered Gift Bag'

2Crafty Chipboard used

Dreamcatchers
6 x 6 Mixed Sentiments - card words
Bubble Clumps

I used some different colours of acrylic paint to colour the background paper and also added some texture with a stencil and texture paste and did a little stamping as well.  The Bubble Clumps were simply painted white with acrylic paint and then layered over a piece of gauze underneath my flower cluster.

I love these Dreamcatchers!!   I was a bit afraid at first that the center would be very delicate and difficult to work with but it is a lot stronger than it looks.  I painted it with gesso first and then with some blue acrylic paint.  I also used the same paint to add the accents on the feathers and swiped the edges with a Versa Color Ink Pad.

These Mixed Sentiment Words are so handy for card makers.  They are the perfect size for smaller projects and you get ten different greetings in the one pack.

'The Tag'

2Crafty Chipboard used

Chicken Barb Wire Small
ATC Words
Ava's Butterflies
Foliage Set 2

Once again I added some stamping and texture to the background papers and also added some splatters.   All the chippies were painted with gesso first and then I used a paint dabber in 'Peeled Paint' to colour the ATC Word.

Isn't this Ava's Butterfly unusual?  So delicate and pretty.  I simply coloured it with a stamp pad and then sprinkled it with glitter.  It looks really sparkly and pretty in real life but, unfortunately, the photo doesn't quite pick that up.

The 'Peeled Paint' dabber was used on the Foliage Set 2 as well but I didn't colour it solidly.  I like that slightly mottled look, it's just a little more interesting I think.  You can just see that I added a little sparkle here as well.

I had actually painted the other side of the Chicken Barb Wire but didn't like the colour so I flipped it and found some of the gesso and paint had leeched around to the other side.  Thought I would have to cut another piece at first but then decided to swipe it with a Charcoal stamp pad and liked how it looked so used it anyway.

'The Card'

2Crafty Chipboard used

Element Set 3
Decorative Rod Set 1

How gorgeous is this Decorative Rod Set 1?  When I saw this on the product list I simply had to get it.  I normally wouldn't have chosen a piece of this length because my makes are on a smaller scale than Scrapbooking but I simply could not resist this one and, I thought I could cut it up if necessary.  Well, what a shame that would have been.  I am so pleased I was able to use it all in one piece.  I simply coloured it with a Versa Color Stamp Pad and it fitted beautifully onto my card.

Well, talking about cutting up some of these stunning chippies!!  I needed something to decorate this corner as it was a bit bare but I had no corner pieces left and nothing else that really suited the design.  While checking through my stash of 2Crafty Chipboard I found the Element Set 3 and cut one of the pieces in half and 'voila' .. perfect .. and I still have the other half left for another project.  Love that you can do that with these fabulous chippies.  They are so easy to adapt to your project no matter the size.

A fairly simple card made special by the addition of some stunning chippies!!

So, that is it, my final post done and dusted.  Thank you so much everyone for looking at my work and for the lovely comments you have left for me.  I have felt honoured and so privileged to have had the opportunity to work with these wonderful chippies and to be on a Team with such amazingly talented ladies.  Thank you again to Vanessa and Di for this fantastic opportunity.

Usually I would split my 2Crafty post and share it over a few days, one for each project but, as this is the end of the month and the new Team is about to start I thought I would share this one all at the same time.  Hope you have enjoyed it and found some inspiration here!

Thank you for visiting.  Take care, stay safe and God Bless.
