You're Tagged - A Masculine Card

Hello my dear friends and welcome to my crafty space.
Hope you're having a great day.

I'm here to show you a masculine card today.  I made this one a few months ago but never got around to sharing it.

If I remember rightly, the papers are from Kaisercraft but I have no idea which collection they are from.
I cut 4 layers of paper to fit the size of the card and then tore the two top layers diagonally across.
Created a couple of tags from another sheet, added some twine and a little stamping ..
.. and tucked them in between the torn layers.
The ruler is a piece cut from a scrap of Prima paper and the sentiment is a cut apart from Kaisercraft.
For a little added interest, I attached the twine to the card with a couple of staples, slid on a paper clip at the side, and I was done!!

That's all from me today.  Thank you so much for stopping by and for any comment you may care to leave.  I do appreciate it.

Have a fabulous day my friends.
Take care and God Bless.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #195 - Monochrome

Hello crafty friends and welcome to my blog.  So happy you dropped by.

There is a brand new Challenge over at Crafty CardmakersJackie is our host this time around, and the Theme is Monochrome!!!
So, as usual, you don't have to make a card.  It can be anything you like as long as you follow the theme.
Please do read the rules and take note of the 15 Challenge limit!!

Well, as is my want, I did make a card and I also did a tiny bit of stash busting or, work space clean-up really.  I had a few scraps of paper lying about on my desk and decided to use them up.  Luckily I found plenty of the same, or similar, colour and all of them are from Maja.

There's not a lot I can tell you about making this card.  Mostly, all I used was the paper.

I either distressed or ripped the edges and simply layered them up.
The only embellishing I did was to stamp the greeting and heat emboss it.
I did try to add a few bits and pieces but couldn't find anything that I was happy with ..
.. and, in the end, I decided that I liked it just as it is.

Another fabulous Challenge from Crafty Cardmakers!

MM - To Bin or Not to Bin!

Hello everyone!!  Welcome to my blog with a special welcome to my new followers.
So pleased you decided to join me on my creative journey.
Hope you are all having a wonderful day!

I'm back to share another of my inky (or painty? LOL!!) cards with you.  This one was made at the same time as the clean and simple cards I posted a while back (HERE) but, as you can see, it is totally different.

Actually, after creating the background, I was going to throw this in the bin!!  Glad I didn't though because I really like how it turned out in the end.

When I was creating my MM cards, this was actually my first attempt.  I mixed the colour (Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals - Cocklebells Coral) and popped it into a bottle and sprayed it onto some watercolour paper.

Unfortunately, the sprayer didn't work correctly and so I ended up with this big blob in the middle.  Bumma!!!  So, I tried softening the edges by using a paper towel soaked in the paint and dabbing it on.
Blah!!!  Still didn't like it so, I put this aside, tried a different technique and came up with the other two cards.  Loved them .. but hated this and was going to toss it.

But then I had another look and thought .. mmm .. maybe if I add a bit of stenciling and tone that 'blob' down a bit and perhaps add a bit of gauze as well to soften the look.
So, out came the stencil and the texture paste and ...  still not really happy but it was starting to look a bit better.

Maybe I should also add a little stamping!   Yeah .. I suppose that looks alright!  Okay, let's try the gauze ..  no, the white looks all wrong so .. colour it!  Still wasn't really happy but started looking for some flowers .. that would certainly cover up the 'blob'.

Well, it took ages to find the right one.  Small ones didn't work, medium sized ones didn't work  so I figured I'd try a large one.  Well, I had to go through a lot of my stash, but finally found this really large Prima  bloom.  It was white and, at first didn't look right either, but then I sprayed it with the same colour and, voila!, it looked fabulous!! (at least, I think it looks fabulous!!)  I really love how it didn't take the colour evenly and IRL it almost seems to glow!  Loved it!!

While I was hunting through my stash for the flower, I found some silver stamens I forgot I had so, I mixed them with some white ones, and decided to add those instead of leaves.  Had to add some prills too, mixed with micro beads of course, and a twine bow at the side ..

.. and, Voila!!!  So glad I didn't toss out that background.
You just never know what can be achieved until you try it.

Thank you so much for stopping by to take a look and, I do hope you enjoyed your visit.
Happy crafting everyone!!!
Take care and God Bless.

Girls Day Out

Hello sweet peeps and welcome to my blog.  Hope you are all having a fabulous day.

A little while ago, I mentioned that I had a fantastic day out with four amazing ladies .. Heather Jacob, Astrid Maclean, Adriana Bolzon and Helen Wallace.   Not only are these ladies amazingly talented as scrappers but they are also the sweetest, loveliest people you could ever hope to meet.  I feel so blessed to be able to call them all 'friend' and to have been included in this wonderful day.
The main reason for this 'Girl's Day Out' was so we could meet with Astrid in person.  Heather and Astrid had already met a few years ago, but the rest of us only knew her online.  Those of you who are familiar with Astrid will know that she actually lives in Scotland but, at the moment she is in Australia visiting relatives in Melbourne.  Luckily for us, she was able to come to Adelaide for a few days and Heather arranged for all of us to get together.  We ended up in Hahndorf and had the most wonderful day just chatting .. laughing .. chatting .. eating .. shopping .. chatting (LOL!!) ..  it was awesome!!
A kind passer-by took this photo for us.

For those of you who don't know us from right to left is Adriana Bolzon, Helen Wallace, Astrid Maclean, Heather Jacob and myself.

We also exchanged some handmade gifts and I thought I would share them with you.
First up is this amazing card by Adriana.
I love the embossing on this card, especially the gold heat embossing on the front .. absolutely  gorgeous.

Lots of inking and I love that sweet little swallow ..

.. and the flower cluster is so very pretty!!

I also love the die cut words .. love, faith, hope, blessings.  Such beautiful sentiments ..

.. and the angel wings in the center.  Absolutely stunning.

Next is a small booklet created by Astrid.
It was presented in this lovely little hessian bag.

Anyone who knows Astrid's work knows she is a master at mixed media and this little booklet was made in her distinctive style.

She blends and matches colours to perfection ..

so many different techniques and mediums used in creating this booklet .. simply awesome!

I adore the quotes Astrid used as well .. so inspiring.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Last, but certainly not least, is this stunning tag by Heather.

Heather also presented her gifts tucked into a gift bag.

Love the warm subtle colour with that touch of black .. and she added our initial on top of those gorgeous layers .. fabulous!

Just look at all those layers .. awesome!!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^
We all wrote some personal messages on the backs of our gifts as well.

You've probably noticed that Helen didn't have a project and that's because she had been on holiday and didn't think she would be able to make it.  As it turned out, she rang Heather the day before to say she was able to join us after all.   We were all so very glad she could come along but, as it was at the last minute, we were not able to exchange gifts with her though her presence was certainly gift enough for all of us.

I created a small photo folio for the girls and I will be sharing those with you in the weeks to come.  In the meantime, here are the links so you can take a look at these 'uberly' talented ladies creations.

ADRIANA BOLZON - AB Inspirations
ASTRID MACLEAN - Astrid's Artistic Efforts
HEATHER JACOB - Art and Life
HELEN WALLACE - Textures and Tales

Here's a few more photos from a fabulous 'Day Out'.
The first one is from Heather's camera.  The last two are from mine.

Thank you so much my gorgeous friends for an absolutely wonderful day.  It was such a great  pleasure to finally meet Astrid in the flesh, so to speak, and she is even more lovely in real life than she is online.  I will treasure the memories and the beautiful gifts you all gave for always.  Love and hugs to you all.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
And thank you all so much for dropping by and making it through this very long post.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your day and that the weather is being kind to you.
Take care and God Bless.

Friends are connected heart to heart ..
Distance and time cannot break them apart.

In My Planner - March 2016

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog.
I'd like to extend a special welcome to my new followers.  So sweet of you to join me in my creative journey and I hope I can give you a little inspiration along the way.

I'm back to share another update of my Planner.  Can't believe it's the middle of April already!!  Once again the year is flying past way too fast.  Who do I need to talk to to slow it down a bit!!??  LOL!!

The divider pages between February and March.

There was a pocket in the left hand page but I don't need that anymore so I adhered some quotes, etc. over the top of it.

The full month at a glance.

March wasn't a terribly busy month for us but we did have a few things happening.  A couple of Birthdays in the family and, of course, these was Easter as well.  I might have gone overboard with the stickers on these pages but, what the heck, it's just my Planner and I do love the stickers.

Week 1.

Week one was reasonably busy but I did have some space to add a few quotes and stickers (always find room for those LOL!!)   My darling hubby and I celebrated our 49th Anniversary in this week.  My goodness, those years have flown by.  They do say time flies when you're having fun don't they??
I added a Heidi Swapp transparency here as well.  It makes a nice cover for the extra little note page I added as I had a fair bit to write about.

Found some new stickers too .. the puffy owl ones .. I do love owls!!
Here's a closie .. Isn't it cute??

Week 2.

Week two was a bit hectic too.  Had a Birthday to celebrate in this week.  It was nice to have a quiet day on the Sunday .. LOL!!  There is another of those new puffy owl stickers  .. did I tell you I love owls??  You'd never know would you??  LOL!!

Week 3.

I have actually made a few 'stickers' of my own by simply using clip art.  Turned out alright I reckon'!!
And .. guess what .. some of them are .... wait for it .... owls!!!  Love the drunk one!!  Bit like me  on a quiet night at home!!  He!! He!!

There's also some butterflies (and a closie of some of the stamping I did in this month's pages) ..

and coffee cups!

Made some of them the right size to fit into a 1" circle punch, but some I have to fussy cut or use my trimmer to cut them out.  Pop a little glue on the back and voila!!  I think they are rather cute and, in case any of you are interested, here is one of the pages I put together.
Hopefully (because I have never done this before)  if you right click on the image and select Save, you will be able to print these for yourself.  I really hope this works.  If it does work, and if enough people are interested, I will share more of them later on.

So, onto week 4 .. which also looks like it was quite busy!

Mmm???!!  Maybe March wasn't as quiet as I thought it was??  LOL!!

Of course, this was Easter week which is always a wonderful and Blessed time for us.
We have been very Blessed in every aspect of our lives and I do thank the Lord for all of it.

So, this is the final week for March.

In this week my darling hubby celebrated his Birthday .. hence, the balloons!!   Not much happened for the rest of the week though so .. more space for stickers!!  Yayy!!!  LOL!!

A couple more closies of the stamping around the edge of the pages.

And .. that's it! .. March, done and dusted.  I'm hoping that, in the April pages, I will have a few photos.  Have bought myself a Canon Selphy and am learning to use it, so, you never know.  All I have to do now, is remember to actually take the photos!!  LOL!!

This turned out to be a much longer post than I thought it would.  Thank you so much for sticking it out till the end and thank you all for visiting today.
I hope that you enjoy the rest of your day and have a lovely weekend as well.

Take care .. stay safe .. and God Bless.
Do what you love and love what you do.
