A Quick Male Card

Hello everyone and a very warm welcome to my blog.
Just a quick share with you today of a card I put together for a friend who lives interstate  (Don't tell him but I almost forgot his Birthday).  I needed this in a bit of a hurry but I think it came together fairly well.
I can't remember which paper I used for the base, ( I should get a little notebook and write these things down as I'm using them)  but the rest of the papers are from Prima's Craftsman Collection ...
... distressed all the edges of course and swiped with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  I also did a little bit of doodling (although I should have done a bit more I think).
The wooden globe is from Kaisercraft.  I basically left it bare except for the same Distress Ink around the edges.
The clock was a print out on my computer which I fussy cut and stuck onto a chipboard button and the cog was cut out of black cardstock with my Silhouette Portrait and then swiped with a little Bronze and Silver Versa Color.
I used Walnut Stain Distress Ink here with a mini Basketweave Template from
The Crafter's Workshop just to add a little bit of extra interest.

Here is just a close-up of the layered strips.    It wasn't until I was ready to post it off that I realised I hadn't placed a greeting on the front but decide that it really wasn't necessary because it's on the inside anyway.
As I said, just a quick, short post but, hopefully you enjoyed it.

Thank you so much for visiting and a Big Thank You to all the lovely people who have left me comments.  I really love to hear from you and I do appreciate you taking the time.
Take care, enjoy the rest of your day and God Bless.

More Cogs

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog.
I'm back to show another card that I made with inspiration from scrapbooking sites.  This one is a masculine card but, again, I haven't decided on who to give it to, or  even on the greeting I'm going to use.
The front of the card is a square of black cardstock and  I used my little machine to sew around the edge.  After I finished embellishing it I mounted it on a deep grey card.
The papers are a mix of Prima Craftsman and Kaisercraft Attitude.  I distressed the edges with my Tim Holz distressing tool after I lightly edged them with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  I left the edges raw because I liked the 'grungy' look.
Here is a close-up of the Imaginarium cogs in the corner.
I painted the cogs with a black paint dabber and then went over them with Versa Color Silver and Bronze to give them an aged look.
This chipboard piece is from Twiddlybits and I've painted it the same as the other cogs.
I used a chicken wire Template and dabbed over it with a Paint Dabber in Almond.
This little patch was actually supposed to be in the opposite corner, but I found that the small cogs didn't stand out very well against the paint colour so I simply turned the card around.
Here is another close-up of the chipboard piece.

Once I decide who to give this card to I'll sort out what the greeting is going to be.

And another one bites the dust!! LOL
Thank you so much for visiting.
Once I've sorted the photos from my holidays I'll do a post about it.  I have to say, New Zealand is a very, very pretty country, and we are definitely going back again to have another look.
Have a lovely day and please take care.
God Bless.

Card for a 16th Birthday

Hello everyone.
I'm back again to show you the card I made for my grandson's Birthday.  He turned 16 a few days ago.  ( Isn't it scary how quickly they grow up ? )
The papers I used are from Prima's Craftsman Collection.  The metal embellishment below is actually a button I found at (Surprise! Surprise! ) Big W.  I cut a small circle from cardstock with a plier punch, coloured it with a silver Versa Colour Stamp Pad and then swiped it lightly with Bronze and then glued it to the inside so that I could cover the button holes.
Here is a close-up of the cogs.  This is actually a single piece which I obtained at the Melbourne Paperific last year.  I think it was from Twiddlybits but I'm not sure because, unfortunately, I've thrown out the packaging.  I coloured this with Black Versa Magic and then swiped it with silver and bronze Versa Color to give it that old rusty look.
I've placed a small tag behind the main image for the greeting.

I covered the tag with paper from the same collection and then stamped it with a flourish stamp from my stash.  For the greeting I simply cut a strip of paper, inked it all over with Walnut Stain Distress Ink, stamped the happy birthday with a Kaisercraft Stamp and then folded it to make the banner.
The number 16 was cut from black cardstock with my Silhouette Portrait. (Love this little machine.)
I lightly inked that with the bronze Versa Color, edged it with gold and covered it with Glossy Accents.
I made an envelope from a different set of papers, made another banner for his name and placed a few cogs in the lower left hand corner  which were coloured the same way as the main piece.
He really liked his card and that made my day.

That's all for now.  Thank you so much for taking the time to visit.
Take care and God Bless.

Card for a Boy!

Hello everyone.
I have a 'boy' card to show you.  I made it for my grand-nephew who turns 11 this year, I hope he likes it.
I struggle sometimes trying to work out what kind of card to make or what colours to use, and then, if I'm lucky, I'll find a collection in my stash which is just perfect.  In this case it was Kaisercraft's Up Up and Away.  The colours are just right and the label perfect to use as an embellishment.

For the vertical panel, I used Martha Stewart's Optic Dot Border Punch.

I cut out a mat from the brown cardstock ( Sorry, I don't know what the die is called.  It's been in my stash for quite some time  and I hadn't kept  any of the details. ), trimmed the edge off the hot air balloon label and attached it with some 3d foam squares.
I attached the mat to the card with the foam squares as well to give it extra dimension.  Sorry for the blurred picture but I hope you can see what I mean.

Before I glued the paper down I wrapped some string around it and attached a button ( I think it's from Graphic 45 ) when I tied the bow.
The Birthday label is made from a ticket tag.  I liked the edge on it so I cut out a mat from the cardstock to match, turned the ticket upside down and stamped the sentiment on it.  After attaching it to the card front I also stamped over it with two stamps from Tattered Angels Timeless Romance Clear Stamps Set.
For the inside of my cards I usually print a page with a little verse and a picture that matches the theme of the card.  I just attach that in the centre so it opens out when the card is opened.  I also write a little personal message underneath the verse before I send it off.

Once I decided on the paper and the layout, this card didn't take too long to make.
I'm pleased with the way it turned out.  Hopefully my nephew will be too.

Before I go I would like to say 'Thank You' to the lovely ladies who have left me a comment.  I really do appreciate them.
Thank you so much for visiting.  Hope you have a great day.
Take care and God Bless.

Book Card

Hello everybody!  My son had his Birthday this week so now I can show you the card I made for him.  This one is a bit different.  I found a tutorial by Sandie Edwards of  'Delightfully Crazy'  on a Vintage Book Card.
You can find it  HERE.
I really loved the card and thought I would try one myself.  It turned out to be quite an easy one to make.  Sandie's instructions are very clear and easy to follow.
As my son is an avid gamer I based the card on one of the games he plays.

I finished the inside of the card first and then found I had nowhere to put the sentiment.  I had intended to make a pocket inside to put in a tag, but somehow that got lost along the way.
Anyhow I ended up putting a door? on the front which opens to reveal the sentiment.
 The Door.

I wrote the sentiment on this tag.  The 'doors' are held closed with some magnets.

Among the images from the net I found a map and a creepy creature which I fussy cut and placed on the inside cover.  I also found the sword and shield which I placed in the corner.

For the 'book' side of the card I  printed two copies of the character and fussy cut one of the figures and glued it over the top with foam squares.  The chipboard corners are from Make it Crafty which I coloured with Versa Magic Midnight Black and then rubbed a little VersaColor Bronze on the edges.
The frame around the central image was covered with paper from Graphic 45's Olde Curiosity Shoppe.

Here you can see the edge of the 'book' which I highlighted with VersaColor Bronze..  For the closure I simply cut a strip of cardstock and bent it around to slide underneath the paper on the front of the card.

This is the full view of the inside.  Some of you may recognize the images, they are from the Kingdom of Amalur - The Reckoning.
My younger son's partner also makes cards.  Check out the one she made at KJWStudio it's awesome.
I would like to thank Sandie Edwards for her excellent tutorial.  This card was really fun to make.
That's it from me for now.  Thank you so much for visiting.  Take care and God Bless.

Masculine Cards

Hi everyone!  Thought I'd  show you some masculine cards I've made. Feminine or girly cards are so easy to do, you just pick the colours and add flowers and swirls and butterflies, but masculine cards I find more difficult because there is not a lot of embellishments that you can use although I must admit companies are getting better at producing more masculine embellies.

This card was for my eldest son.  He's an avid gamer as well, loves Dragons, Sword and Sorcery, etc.  Bit like his Mum actually.  I've had the mesh in my stash for quite a while but could never work it into a project until this card. I'm quite pleased with the look of it.  The dragon and the shield I downloaded from the net, the swirls are a die-cut and I made the little banner from a strip of paper.

This is the card I made for my brother.  He's a bachelor so I felt the pin-up was quite appropriate.

Distressed the edges of the papers and put a pocket behind the main image for the Birthday tag.
I coloured the tattered clock (love this die, I use it a lot) with a black stamp pad.

Last, but not least, is the card I made for my eldest grandson.  He loves Metallica so I downloaded pictures of their guitars and picks.  The papers are from my stash and I distressed them with Versa Color charcoal.

Punched out the label from kraft card, distressed the edge, stamped the greeting on it and attached the small charm.

That's all for now.  Thank you for visiting and God Bless.

Gatefold Diorama

Hello everyone! I made a card for my youngest son's birthday. He is an avid gamer so I obtained some images from the net and made a small diorama. I made a gate fold card with a belly band that closes at the back with Velcro to make it easy to get on and off.

I used papers from Prima and Graphic 45 and distressed them to get an aged look.
The small sword in the corner can actually be removed and I inked the papers on some of the edges with bronze Versa color to give it a metallic look.

I added some Make it Crafty Flower Leaf Swirls to the front of the card, coloured them with black Versa Color and smudged the edges with bronze to get a rusty look.

Added some shields (which I slightly embossed) on the inside ...

and used a pop-up technique for the diorama.

I need to find a better place to take my photos.  I either get too much light or not enough. Anyway my son was pleased with his card and that's what really matters.
That's all for now.
Thank you so much for visiting and God Bless.
