A Birthday in Pastel Shades.

Hello my lovely visitors and welcome to my blog.  So pleased you dropped by.

June and July are fairly busy months for me as far as card making goes.  Lots of rellies and friends having birthdays .. luckily I do have some cards in reserve but I still have quite a few to make as well.  The inspiration for the card I am sharing today came from the pastel coloured papers I found in my stash.

I was looking for something light and pretty and these papers were perfect.  They are from an older Kaisercraft collection but I have no idea which one.

Coloured the flowers with some watered down acrylic paint.

Lots of layers  .. papers and different laces.

Added a small piece of gauze, a twine bow, a gem spray and a chipboard piece from 2Crafty Chipboard.

The flowers and the laces are all available from Megs Garden.

The leaves were cut with my Silhouette Portrait.  Awesome little machine!!

Two pockets on the inside .. one for a gift voucher and the other for a personal message written on a journal card.

Some splashes of white paint to finish!!  Done!!

I am really happy with the way this card turned out .. and it came together quite quickly too.  Simply went with the flow.   So, I guess I haven't lost my mojo where cards are concerned.  Yayy!!

Thank you so much for dropping by and for any little comment you may care to leave.
Take care, stay safe and God Bless.

Creativity is contagious.  PASS it on.

Rose Quartz Cards - A Megs Garden DT Post

Hello sweet visitors and welcome to my blog.  Really lovely to have you drop by.

Megs Garden has a new paper collection called Rose Quartz and I am here to share two cards I created with these papers.  If you like all things pink this is the collection for you.  Whether you prefer shabby chic, vintage, clean and simple or any style you like, if you like it in pink, then this is definitely the collection for you.  Of course, even if you're not so much into pink, you can simply add any colour combination you like and this would still be the perfect collection for you.  There are so many gorgeous images which are suitable for fussy cutting and also, lots of ephemera that would be perfect for anything you wish to create.

So, onto the cards I created.

This one actually started out to be a tag but, when I was half way through, I decided to turn it into a card.  That's what I usually do with the tags I make anyway.

In the Papercraft Mini Packs, you get a total of six sheets.  Three of these sheets have two different designs in two 5.4" squares with two additional strips on the side.  I have used one of the 5.4" squares for the bottom layer on this card and two of the side strips for the top layer.

The sprigs were cut on my Silhouette, the doily and the knitting cotton are from my stash.  All the other elements, including that gorgeous bit of lace, are available from Megs Garden.  I will leave a list of products at the end of this post.

Once again I have used my favourite 'go to' flower.  I just adore this Puffy Paper rose.  It comes in a creamy white and I have simply used some watered down acrylic paint to give it a little colour.

The deeper pink flower above is the Carrabella Rose which is another favourite of mine.  The smaller flower is a little cherry blossom which was also coloured with acrylic paint.
Just a little tip.  When colouring paper flowers it is a good idea to first spray them with a little water.  You don't need to saturate them but the paint blends much easier if the paper is a little wet.

This next card is an Easel Card.

I have used similar embellishments as on the first card but, this time, the papers are from the Mini Book Kit.

The vintage lady images were cut from one of the ephemera pages and then mounted on some chipboard.  I think they are the perfect anchor for my easel card.

There is plenty of space above the images to add a personal message.  Isn't that paper just gorgeous??

Here, again, I have used the Puffy Paper Flower, the Carabella Rose and some Cherry Blossoms as part of the cluster.  The leaves and sprigs were cut with my Silhouette and the gem sprays are from my stash, as is the chippie underneath.

The labels were torn from the ephemera pages.  I then border punched and pleated a small strip of  paper, layered it with the labels and tucked them all into the side of the cluster.

Used some crackle paste through a Tim Holtz stencil to add a little more interest to the front of the card.

Tucked some cute little rose buds into the cluster and then added some seed beads as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed creating with this beautiful collection of papers and hope I have inspired you to try them for yourself.  You don't even have to wait for them to be delivered.  If you purchase the download version you could start using them straight away.  How awesome is that??

Creating with the Chantilly Cream Papercraft Pack - A Megs Garden DT Post

Hello crafty visitors and welcome to my blog.  Hope you are all having a wonderful day.
A very warm and special welcome to my new followers.  Thank you so much for joining me on my creative journey.

I have been having a fabulous time working with the new Chantilly Cream Paper Collection which is exclusive to Megs Garden.  I must say I am totally in love with these papers.  They are gorgeous.  Beautiful creamy colours and suitable for so many styles of projects from Vintage to Shabby Chic and anything in between.

I would like to share two cards and a tag that I have created with the Papercraft Mini Pack.  This pack is like a mini kit and is ideal for all of your smaller projects such as cards, tags, ATC's and even mini books.   You get 6 sheets of papers measuring 8.5" x 11".  Three of these sheets have 2 designs at 5.4" square with two matching mini strips on the side.  The other three sheets are full of ephemera and you can order it in either the printed version or the download version.  The download version is fabulous because there is no waiting for delivery.  You pay for your purchase and download straight away which means you can buy your papers and start creating on the same day ..  how awesome is that??  To take a closer look at this Papercraft Pack HERE is the link.

So, on to my creations.  First up is the tag.

I used two of the mini strips for this tag.  To complement the neutral tones of the paper, I decided to use purple and tan .. I think these colours look really great together. I also did a little stamping with my fave stamps and added some texture paste through a stencil.

While the texture paste was still wet, I added some clear micro beads for some added texture.
The large bloom was one I actually handmade a long time ago.  I found it in a forgotten corner of my stash and felt it suited the tag beautifully.   The bow was made with some knitting cotton which is not quite as stiff as twine so it has a softer look to it.

The white rose is the 'puffy paper flower' available from Megs Garden and one of my fave 'go to' flowers.   The cotton lace is also available from the Garden but the fern is from my stash.  I will leave a list of Megs Garden products at the end of this post.

The 'Love' label is from the ephemera which comes in the kit.  It was simply fussy cut and then mounted on some card stock.

I love creating tags but don't always have a use for them so what I usually do is mount them onto some cardstock and turn them into cards and that is what I'll do with this tag.

So, onto my cards.  Here is No. 1.

I used one of the 5.4" squares for this card.  My go to size for square cards is 5.5" x 5.5" so, as this is double matted, I did need to trim the paper to fit.  Used 'Gathered Twigs' Distress Ink through a Tim Holtz stencil for some added interest and distressed all the edges.

This flower is another treasure found  in my stash.  Have no idea where I got it from.  Originally it was brown so, to match in with my colour scheme, I sprayed it with Afraid of the Dark Glimmermist.  It has a lovely shimmer to it although that doesn't show up very well in the photo.  Swiped it with a little gesso to add some highlights.

I used some of the ephemera from the pack for my layers.

Border punched some Kaisercraft papers (the only purple paper I could find in my stash) and then pleated it and tucked it under the layers.  This was an idea I lifted from Nancy Border Dynes (her works are awesome).  I love that bit of colour peeking out from underneath.

For this next card I also used the ephemera from the pack.

There are several different floral images in this pack and I felt this particular one went well with the other elements on the card.  The pretty lace attached at the side is, of course, available at the Garden.

All of these flowers are available at Megs Garden.  I used 'Sugar Plum Fairy' Glimmermist to alter the colour to match in with the image.

A little bit of mesh and some cotton thread was added for extra interest and texture.

Mini Papercraft Pack - Megs Garden #2

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog.  Hope you are all having a wonderful day!!

If you had a look at my previous post you would have seen that Megs Garden has recently released a new product, namely the Mini Papercraft Pack.  This pack is ideal for making cards, tags, mini albums, off the page projects, anything really that requires smaller sized papers and ephemera.  The pages are slightly smaller  than the original Mini Card Pack (which is also still available) but it has lots of added goodies and you can get it in both the printed and the digital version.  How cool is that??

I'm sharing another two cards with you today made with the 'English Rose Garden' Mini Papercraft Pack and, as I said in my last post, I thoroughly enjoyed creating with it.

This is the full pack (each page measures 8.5" x 11") ..

So far, I have created four cards with this pack, but I still have quite a bit of it left over so there will be more creations to come!!
Here are the last two cards in more detail ..

Card 3
Measures 4.5" x 5.5"

Very much the vintage look here.  My base paper is one of the larger images from the ephemera in the pack which I've simply torn to size and then stenciled with Distress Ink and texture paste.

My second fave flowers ..  the Carabella Rose available, of course, from Megs Garden.

One of the vintage lady images from the ephemera tucked into a Little Birdie chipboard frame..

Some 2Crafty Chipboard coloured with acrylic paint, coated with Clear Rock Candy Crackle and dry brushed with gesso ..

.. and the inside, decorated with more of the paper.

Card 4
Measures 5" x 5.5"

Triple paper layers on the front stamped with a script stamp and sprayed lightly with watered down 'Peeled Paint' Distress paint.  Tucked some gauze and some pretty ribbon between the layers too.

The clock was mounted on some chipboard for extra dimension and then I attached the metal clock hands with a small brad.

Sprayed the flower centers with more of the 'Peeled Paint' Distress paint and added some twine,  a strip of  lace and some beads.

I made the back part of the card wider than the front so that I could add this little greeting on the side.  Unfortunately my embossing didn't turn out as clean and sharp as I would have liked but that's what happens sometimes with handmade items.   You don't always have total control but I'll just say it adds character!!  LOL!!

A closer look at the layers and stamping ..

.. and the inside of the card.

The cards in this post and in my previous post are all I have made with this pack so far and I do hope I have inspired you to try the packs for yourself.  There are a few different paper designs to choose from, including two Christmas Packs which would be ideal for Christmas cards and/or mini albums and even some decorations. The possibilities are endless.
For more ideas of what can be made with the Papercraft Pack, my Team Mate Miriam Hagger has a post showing a gorgeous altered Printer's Tray and Team Mate Dana Tatar has a post showing some fabulous Christmas ornaments.  To see Miriam's post click HERE, and to see Dana's post click HERE.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog and leaving me some love.
