The Last of My 2Crafty October Shares

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog.  So pleased you dropped by.
I am back to show you my third and final October reveal for 2Crafty Chipboard.  This one is a another feminine card but in a more mixed media style.

2Crafty products used:
Interlocking Grid Panel
Word Circles Set 1

The background on this card was actually created for an Art Journal page but, as I never finished the page, I thought it would work well as a card instead.   I simply added some strips of Prima's Cartographer paper and machine stitched around the edges.
The Word Circle was painted with Acrylic Paint and then sprayed with Pearl Glimmer Mist.  Unfortunately the shimmer doesn't show very well in the photos but it looks quite pretty in real life..

I cut a piece from the Interlocking Grid Panel and also covered it with Acrylic Paint and Glimmer Mist.  Added some thread and micro beads for a little more texture.

A piece of gauze, some flowers and gold stamens ...

... add to that a pretty bow ...

... and my card is complete!

I really love working with 2Crafty chipboard pieces.  They are Australian made, of excellent quality and there are so many fabulous designs to chose from.

2Crafty October Shares # 1

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog!
I am back to share my October DT creations for 2Crafty!  I have three of these to share with you so I will spread them out over the next few days.
This card is fairly clean, in other words, there is no inking or stamping or masking.  I usually end up doing one or more of those but, funnily enough, I didn't feel this card warranted any of that.  I actually liked it as it is.  Go figure!  LOL!

2Crafty Chipboard used:
Flourish Adornment Set 5
Frames Tiny Kathleen

The papers are from Kaisercraft's Now Boarding Paper Pad and, as you can see,  I just did a little stitching around the edge.
I wanted the flourish adornment pieces to stand out a bit from the rest of the card but I didn't want a lot of colour so they were very lightly brushed with Wild Honey Distress Ink.   Then one piece was placed at the bottom of the cluster ...

... and the other piece at the top.

I usually like at least a few layers on my cards so you can see a paper doily, some gauze and a small tag with the Tiny Kathleen Frame placed over the top.  The frame was coloured with Versa Magic Cloud White and clear heat embossed and I then added a Tim Holtz word Band to complete the card.

The pretty flowers are from my stash and I just added some delicate stamens to complete the cluster.

Decorated the inside with more of the same papers  and left space for the sentiment on the die-cut.

Hope you like my card and that I have inspired you in some small way.   My next reveal will be posted in a couple of days, hope to see you back here then!

In the meantime, why not check out the 2Crafty Blog for more inspiration from my Teamies and take a look at the gorgeous chippies that are available from 2Crafty Chipboard.

Thank you so much for visiting and do  enjoy the rest of your day.
Take care and God Bless.

My 2Crafty September Reveal #1

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog.  I hope you are having a wonderful day!
It is my turn again over at the 2Crafty Blog and I would like to share the first of my September DT projects with you.
This is a card I created using some of their gorgeous chippies.
2Crafty products used
Heidi Vines
Mini Chicken Wire Barbed
The papers used are from Maja and, as you can see, I did a little stamping and stenciling as well as some doodling around the edges.

Lightly sprayed the back of the Heidi Vine with some water so it could be slightly shaped.  It was then coloured with Distress Inks and brushed with gesso.  I also added some texture paste to the 'bulbs' on the ends  and coloured them with Distress Ink and then swiped over the top with gold Versa Color.

The Chicken Wire Barbed comes in a 6" x 6" panel.  I simply cut off some small pieces and painted them with white acrylic paint.  While they were still wet, I sprinkled them with clear glitter and, when dry, tucked them in between the paper layers.  I love the look of torn paper and making some small tears over the chippies helps to show them off.

A closie of the flower cluster and that's a pleated doily peeking out from the rips in the paper.

Decorated the inside with a strip of the same paper which was edge punched with Martha Stewart's Optic Dot  Border Punch.  I also added a few strips of washi tape.

As I said at the start of this post this is the first of my 2Crafty projects for this month.  I have two more to share and I will be posting them over the next few days.  I do hope you will  come back to take a look.
In the meantime, why not pop over to the 2Crafty Blog and see what the rest of the DT Team have created.  You can find it HERE and to find a 2Crafty stockist near you ... drop an email to salesat2crafty@optusnet.com.au

Sharing the Happiness at Our Creative Corner

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog.
I was so thrilled and excited when I was contacted by Laura Bomber and told that Astrid Maclean wanted me to be the Guest Designer for her Challenge last month at Our Creative Corner.   I never imagined that something like this would happen to little old me!!!  Thank you so much ladies you have made me feel very blessed.
The July Challenge was to use handmade flowers and hand dyed ribbon on a project.  I wasn't sure at first what I should create but, as I am primarily a card maker, that is what I eventually decided to do and here is what I came up with.
The base is white cardstock and I used some tulle to soften the look.  I then used two layers of paper from Meg's Garden's 'Correspondence' collection, tore them to size and then randomly curled the edges.
Did a little background work with 'Fired Brick' Distress Ink.  I simply wet a paper towel with the ink and then pounced it on the paper, I love the textured look you get from this technique.  Added some circles with a bottle top dipped in gesso and created some splats with Black Soot D.I.  I used two die cuts on this card, both of them are from Memory Box.  The 'Snowflake Spray' was cut into two pieces, one of which I placed between the paper layers, and the other piece was used as part of the flower cluster along with the 'Honey Blossom Sprig'.
The 'Chicken Barbed Wire' Chipboard piece is from 2Crafty Chipboard.  I coloured it with red Acrylic paint and then randomly swiped it with some Glossy Accents and some Crackle Accents.
This is actually an Easel Card and to anchor the 'Easel' I used a die cut piece from Spellbinder's 'Opulent Ovals'.  The stamp is from Kaisercraft and was stamped with Memento's Tuxedo Black.   The edges of the oval were inked with Fired Brick D.I.
Used Tim Holtz's 'Burlap' stencil and Fired Brick to decorate the inside and added some texture with homemade texture paste and Urban Artist's 'Mini Hummingbird' stencil.

With all the incidentals out of the way, we came to the important part of this project.  The handmade flowers and the hand dyed ribbon.
It's been quite a long time since I made a paper flower and I had forgotten how much I enjoyed doing it.  This is a style of flower I discovered a few years ago but, unfortunately I do not remember where.  There are so many tutorials out there now and, although I did find quite a number which use the same method of crinkling the petals I simply couldn't find the one that used the tulle and the stamens as well.
So, I thought I would do a little step by step.

You need two large flower shapes and one smaller one.  It doesn't really matter what style of flower shape you use as long as the petals are cut fairly deep.  You also need at least 6 stamens and a piece of tulle.

You can either colour your petals as I did or simply use designer paper to suit your project.

Spray the petals with water and then, using the end of a paintbrush or something similar, curl one of the petals around the handle of the brush.  Hold it securely with your thumb and forefinger and then pinch it with your other hand to get the lengthwise creases.

Do this with all the petals and then curl the whole piece around the bottom of the brush.

This is what they should look like.  The smaller flower can simply be rolled into a little ball.

Let them dry completely and then, very carefully, open them up.  If you've coloured your flowers, you may wish to ink the edges at this stage because some of the colour would have leeched out when you sprayed them with water.

Cut a circle out of your piece of tulle slightly smaller than the large petals and then snip out some petal shapes.  It doesn't matter if you end up with more petals than actual the flower itself.  Once assembled, you won't notice the anomaly.

Time to assemble the flower.  Put a fairly large blob of glue (I used Glossy Accents) in the centre of one of the large flower shapes and attach the tulle flower.  Then add the second paper flower, staggering the petals, and making sure the tulle is visible.  Press down firmly in the centre until the three layers stick together.

For the stamens, put two of them together and bend them in half.  I then slightly twist the bottom together and fold it up slightly to make them a little shorter.  You could cut them to length but I find that by folding the bottoms up they are easier to stick down.  Put another blob of glue in the centre and arrange the stamens evenly around your flower.

Then it's just a matter of crumpling up the smaller flower until you are happy with it and glueing it down on top of the stamens.  Here is the finished flower.
I think it's kinda cute!
For the hand dyed ribbon I used Fired Brick  and Walnut Stain Distress Inks.  I simply pressed the stamp pads onto my mat, sprayed a little water on it and then dragged the ribbon through it.  Crumpled the ribbon up (and, of course, got ink all over my hands, but that's all part of the fun isn't it??)   then left it to dry and tied it into a bow.
And here is the full view of my finished card.  The smaller flower on the base was made exactly the same as the larger one but, of course, I left out the tulle and the stamens.

I hope you enjoyed my little project and that, perhaps, I have inspired you to go over and take a look at Our Creative Corner.  They have a new challenge each month and there are some lovely prizes to be won.

Thank you again, Laura and Astrid for giving me this amazing opportunity, I thoroughly enjoyed it!!
Thank you so much for visiting and leaving me a little comment.
Take care everyone and God Bless.

Melanie's Card

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog.
Today I'd like to share a card with you which was not actually made by me although I did help a little.  This card was made by my darling 11 year old Granddaughter.  Her name is Melanie!!  We did actually start this card a while ago and, as she was here for a sleepover last night, we finished it this morning.  She chose the design, she chose the papers and the embellishments and she did most of the work herself.  I just helped her with some of the techniques
and here it is!!
The design was taken from a card I had a picture of in my computer.  I must have found it a while ago because now I Pin the ones I like. Unfortunately I do not know where it came from or who made it. If anyone recognises it, please let me know and then I can acknowledge it.  The papers are from Kaisercraft's Magnolia Grove 6 x 6 Paper Pad and the flower is from Prima.  All the distressing and inking was done by my GD.
The butterfly was cut using the Dragonfly Die from Magnolia Ink.
The fancy label was cut from cardstock and then from a sheet of the paper and then they were glued together.  The Nestaboard Label was painted with white acrylic paint  and then stamped with the greeting in Versafine Vintage Sepia.  It was then clear embossed ( I had to give her a hand here because I had a bit of a problem with letting her use the heat gun )  Overprotective Nanna much??
The inside was lined with more of the KC paper and  edged with Martha Stewart's Doily Lace Border Punch.  Simply showed my DGD how to use it and then she did it herself.
A view of  the layers ...
... and all done!!!
I am a very proud Nana right now (actually I am always a very proud Nana ) ... I think she did a fabulous job.  As I said, all the  selections were made by her, I simply gave her a few choices.  Most of the work was also done by her.  I did do the die cutting as she had a problem getting it through the machine and I did the heat embossing, but other than that, it is all hers.
She rocked it!!!!!  She was also very excited when I said I would post it on my blog so, if you enjoyed it please leave her a little message.  We both would love that.  Thank you.

I do hope everyone enjoyed a Happy and Blessed Easter and thank you so much for visiting.
Take care and God Bless.
